In August 2024, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) reported total sales of 63,175 units (49,525 domestic and 13,650 international). The South Korean automaker also reported total sales of over 5.13 lakh units in the year to date (January-August 2024), up 2.06% year-on-year. Commenting on the brand’s performance in August, Tarun Garg, Whole-time Director and COO, HMIL said, “SUVs led by models like Creta, Venue and Exter remain the key growth drivers for HMIL in 2024, contributing 66.8% to domestic sales. We are about to launch the bold new 6 and 7-seater SUV Hyundai Alcazar, which we are sure will receive a strong response during the festive season.”

Hyundai Alcazar will be launched in India on September 9
Hyundai India will launch the facelifted Alcazar on September 9. The car will be available in four different variants and nine paint finishes. The Creta-based vehicle will come with more features, mainly aimed at improving the comfort of the second-row passengers. The carmaker has also improved the safety of the car with this update. It is worth noting that the bookings for the new Alcazar are ongoing and the pre-sale price is Rs 25,000.
As far as safety equipment is concerned, the new Hyundai Alcazar will be equipped with Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) features such as Smart Cruise Control, Surround View Monitor, Blind Spot View Monitor, Forward Collision Warning and Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist and Driver Attention Warning. Standard features include six airbags, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Vehicle Stability Management, all four disc brakes and Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). The SUV will also offer Digital Key, front parking sensors, rain sensing wipers, Hill Descent Control and an electrochromic interior rearview mirror.
The cabin will be decorated in brown and dark blue themes. In terms of comfort, the new Alcazar will be equipped with two 10.25-inch digital screens, ventilated front and second-row seats, dual-zone air conditioning, connected car technology, touch climate control panel, adjustable thigh support and headrests, panoramic sunroof, magnetic cushions, eight-speaker Bose sound system and wireless charging. It will be available in six- and seven-seat configurations.

The facelifted Alcazar will have the same engine options as the previous generation model (1.5-liter turbo-petrol/1.5-liter diesel). The turbo-petrol engine has a maximum power of 157.8 hp and a peak torque of 253 Nm. It is mated to a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The diesel engine, on the other hand, has a power of 114.4 hp and a peak torque of 250 Nm, mated to a six-speed MT or a six-speed AT transmission. Three driving modes will also be available: Sport, Comfort and Eco, as well as three traction control modes: Snow, Sand and Mud.
