Simple calculations show that this Ioniq 5 travels about 541 kilometers per day, lasting 3 years and 5 months, which is like a new record

Customers often worry about battery life when considering buying an electric car. However, the latest electric vehicles have advanced battery packs that offer excellent performance even in the long run. A related example is a new post on social media where the boss of the Ioniq 5 revealed readings of his vehicle’s odometer at 666,255 km. Let’s check out more details revealed by the Ioniq 5 owners.

Back to the Moon and Back

Information about this particular modern IONIQ 5 has been posted on the Facebook page. The owner calls it the 2023 model, although exact details of the variant are not yet provided. The odometer shows a large amount of 666,255 km, and the post has become all the rage on Korean social media. The owner is a professional salesman. Reading of the super high odometer shows that he has to travel frequently.

According to the owner, on his Ioniq 5, this odometer reads 666,255 kilometers, and arrives in just 3 years and 4 to 5 months. This is even more surprising, as it reveals that the owner drives his Ioniq 5 on average at 541 km per day. It includes Saturday and Sunday, with no day off for the past 3 years and 5 months. Assuming the owner is at least off on Sunday and is not working on the official Korean holiday, the average daily running will be higher.

Covering 541 kilometers per day in South Korea means about 5-6 hours of driving time. This does not cover actual situations such as traffic congestion and rest. As a salesman, Ioniq 5 owners must also manage their professional commitments, such as visiting clients and attending meetings.

There is no mention of the owner driving the car himself, or that he has a driver working for him. The possibility of a driver covering 666,255 kilometers in 3.5 years seems to be greater. However, no such information is provided. 666,255 kilometers away from the long-distance journey to and from the moon is only about 100,000 kilometers. If the owner maintains the current operating rate, he can add 10,000 kilometers in less than a year.

The original battery lasted 580,000 kilometers

Another shocking message revealed in the post is that the original battery of the Ioniq 5 lasted an impressive 580,000 km. This is not predictable, especially given that the actual battery warranty is much lower. It varies from market to market. For example, the IONIQ 5 in the United States and Australia has a battery warranty of 8-10 years. However, there is a cap of 1.6 million kilometers. This means that the duration of this IONIQ 5 battery is 3.6 times the number of kilometers covered in the warranty.

Battery free replaces modern fees

At 580,000 km, this Ioniq 5 obviously covers more distances than the warranty period. Even then, Hyundai replaced the battery completely for free. Modern may consider it a special case and reward the owner accordingly.

In India, Hyundai Motor launched the Ioniq 5 at the Auto Expo in January 2023. Electric vehicles are imported into India as CKD units and are assembled at the factory of Sriperumbudur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The current price starts at Rs 46.3 lakh. The Ioniq 5 in India offers an 8-year/1.6 million km battery warranty. The product warranty is 3 years, unlimited kilometers.
