Hyundai Ioniq 9 interior revealed ahead of world premiere in Los Angeles

Hyundai has teased the interior of its upcoming Ioniq 9 electric SUV ahead of its highly-anticipated debut at the 2024 Los Angeles Auto Show. Designed as a premium three-row electric vehicle, the Ioniq 9 is built on the brand’s advanced E-GMP platform and features a flat floor for enhanced cabin space and flexibility. The interior trailer showcases a lounge-inspired design that blends an organic, nature-themed aesthetic with cutting-edge technology to create a luxurious, tranquil environment. Hyundai promises advanced connectivity features, stylish LED lighting, and thoughtful design elements like curved panels and oval graphics. The Ioniq 9 is expected to rival the Kia EV9 in size and functionality, and is expected to set a new benchmark in the electric SUV segment with its spacious layout and sustainable innovation.

The latest teaser images give you an in-depth look at the Ioniq 9’s design and features. Standout elements include the three-row seating arrangement, as well as visible controls for adjusting the front passenger seat. Other details include Bose audio speakers, uniquely crafted door pockets and the gentle slope of the rear roofline.

According to the Korean automaker, the Ioniq 9’s interior has been carefully designed to enhance the experience of comfort, functionality and entertainment, while also prioritizing safety. The SUV utilizes Hyundai’s advanced Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), with a flat floor in all three rows of the cabin to ensure maximum space utilization and flexibility. As a flagship electric SUV, the Ioniq 9 seats seven passengers and is inspired by the 2021 Seven concept car.

The design supports 800-volt charging technology for faster charging capabilities. Hyundai’s emphasis on an “aerodynamic” design language blends stylish aerodynamics with a focus on passenger relaxation, enhanced by smooth, curved elements such as door trim and handles.

Hyundai Ioniq 9: Expected powertrain setup

Although specific details about the battery and motor have not been disclosed, it is expected that powertrain components from the Kia EV9 will be carried over.

The model is expected to be available in rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations, with a range ranging from 370 kilometers for the standard version to 489 kilometers for the extended-range version. In terms of power output, it offers 201bhp in the base lightweight long-range variant and a peak of 379bhp in the dual-motor setup, offering versatility for both efficiency-focused and performance-focused users.

Since the Hyundai Ioniq 9 is scheduled to be launched internationally next year, the model may be introduced to the local market in late 2025 or early 2026.
