Hyundai’s long-awaited three-row electric SUV is finally here in the form of the Ioniq 9 . It’s equivalent to the brand’s Kia EV9 and is based on the familiar E-GMP architecture of several Hyundai, Kia and other cars. Creation model.

All versions of the Ioniq 9 come with a large 110.3 kWh battery and will be sold in three different configurations. The entry-level Long Range model has a single electric motor in the rear that produces 214 hp (160 kW) and 258 lb-ft (350 Nm) of torque. Hyundai says the model can travel up to 385 miles (620 kilometers) on the WLTP test cycle when equipped with 19-inch wheels.

Those looking for extra performance can opt for remote all-wheel drive. It adds a 94 hp (70 kW) electric motor to the front axle, providing an additional 188 lb-ft (255 Nm) of torque. The top model in the range is the Ioniq 9 Performance, with a pair of 214 hp (160 kW) electric motors at the front and rear. The model can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.2 seconds, while Long Range AWD needs 6.7 seconds to reach the same mark, and Long Range RWD 9.4 seconds. Top speed for all models is 124 mph (200 km/h).

Regardless of which variant a customer chooses, all Ioniq 9 models can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes via a 350 kW charger. It also features vehicle-to-load charging.

Visually, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 has a lot in common with the SEVEN Concept from a few years ago. It features the same parametric pixel lights as other Ioniq models and, despite its larger size, has a drag coefficient of just 0.259 Cd when equipped with the optional digital rearview mirror. It was also the first modern car to ditch the roof antenna, instead using the windshield for GPS and satellite radio, the dashboard for connected car services and the tailgate glass for FM/AM radio. Buyers will get 19-, 20- and 21-inch wheels, including a set of flagship 21-inch “Calligraphy” shoes. No less than 16 exterior colors are available.

The Ioniq 9’s wheelbase is as long as 123.2 inches (3,130 mm) and its roomy cabin is clad in luxurious materials and looks perfect for long road trips. A steering wheel similar to the one on the latest-generation Santa Fe is standard and includes small green LEDs that allow the driver to keep track of remaining battery power.

A 12-inch digital instrument panel and 12-inch infotainment display are housed on a single curved screen. As standard, the Ioniq 9 comes with eight speakers, but Bose’s 14-speaker array is also available as an option. Other key features include multiple 100-watt high-output USB-C ports, which receive power directly from the 110.3 kWh battery pack instead of a 12-volt battery. A large number of interior surfaces are made from environmentally friendly materials, including recycled PET fabric, wool fabric and eco-craft leather, underscoring the car’s environmental credentials. The Ioniq 9 will be sold in six- and seven-seat configurations, with the second-row seats featuring swivel functionality, just like the EV9.

Hyundai’s latest suite of safety features comes standard. These include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Safe Exit Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist and High Beam Assist. It is also equipped with 10 airbags.

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 will be launched first in South Korea and the United States in the first half of 2025, before expanding to Europe and other markets later this year. Market-specific specifications and pricing will be announced at a later date.
