Hyundai Creta remains the main contributor

The SUV segment has always been a major component of HMIL’s domestic market; they accounted for 66.6% of total domestic sales in 2024. Double cylinder Exter CNG launched

Hyundai Motors has launched the Exter Hy-CNG Duo in India. Priced starting at Rs 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom), the model comes with twin-cylinder CNG technology. The technology uses two smaller CNG cylinders with a total capacity of 60 litres, thus allowing for more trunk space than a standard CNG car with a single-cylinder setup. Earlier, Hyundai’s Exter CNG models had only one cylinder. The Hy-CNG Duo is available in three variants – S, SX and SX Knight Edition.

The car is powered by a 1.2-litre dual-fuel (petrol plus CNG) engine mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. The twin-cylinder fuel tank comes with an integrated Electronic Control Unit (ECU) for seamless transition from petrol to CNG and vice versa. In CNG mode, the Exter can output a maximum power of 68bhp and a peak torque of 95.2Nm, while the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency is 27.1km/kg. Hyundai’s factory-installed CNG kit comes with a 3-year warranty.
