Hyundai recalls 2024 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid SUVs

Nearly 50,000 SUVs may have airbags that fail to deploy when needed or deploy for no apparent reason.

— Hyundai is recalling nearly 50,000 Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid SUVs because the vehicles’ air bags may not deploy in a crash or the air bags may deploy suddenly for no apparent reason.

The recalled 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe and Santa Fe Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEV) may have an issue with the main floor wiring harness.

These floor harnesses can rub against the passenger side second row bench seat assembly and become damaged.

This may result in the airbag being inoperative during a collision, as well as the airbag being deployed unexpectedly without a collision.

In April, the rear side airbags of the 2024 Santa Fe in South Korea deployed, which caused Hyundai’s concern. The automaker has launched investigations in South Korea and North America so that engineers can find out the problem.

Hyundai determined that the main floor wiring harness may have been damaged, which led to eight incidents but no crashes or injuries.

The Hyundai Santa Fe recall letter is expected to be mailed on September 23, 2024.

However:

“As a precautionary measure, if a vehicle is confirmed to have any of the warning symptoms noted in this report, owners are advised to visit a dealer immediately for diagnosis and repair, as the recall remedy is currently in effect.” – modern

Santa Fe drivers should be aware of an illuminated air bag warning light.

Hyundai dealers will fix the floor wiring harnesses or replace any damaged harnesses.

Hyundai Santa Fe owners can contact Hyundai at 855-371-9460 and ask for recall number 265.
