The Hyundai IONIQ 5 N comes with dazzling different driving modes and features designed to make it the ultimate all-electric rogue. However, issues with one of these features forced the company to recall more than 1,500 Ioniq 5ns across the United States.
A recall notice issued by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) points out the car’s left foot braking mode as a problem. As this mode suggests, it allows the driver to use both the brake and the throttle pedal and is designed for high-performance driving on the racetrack.

However, it was revealed that at some point, integrated electronic brake (IEB) control software can trigger the suppression of the ABS system, thereby reducing braking performance. This obviously increases the risk of a crash, especially on tracks where drivers need the most brake systems.
A total of 1,508 Ioniq 5n examples participated in the recall. These cars were produced between December 18, 2023 and December 10, 2024.

Hyundai plans to notify dealers and owners on April 7 and encourage all owners to stop using the left foot brake function. The dealer was told to update the IEB and VCU software to correct the failure.
Although this appears to be the first recall from the United States, the regular size has been recalled in the past. Last November, the Hyundai Motor Group recalled 145,000 Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Genesis G80 electrification, Genesis GV70 electrical and Genesis GV60 models as the integrated charging control unit may be damaged, preventing the 12-volt battery battery from charging and allowing it to drain slowly.
