The new Hyundai Verna comes with many segment-leading features along with comprehensive advanced safety features and Level 2 ADAS suite
Hyundai Motor India Ltd launched the sixth generation Verna sedan earlier last year. At that time, Honda City, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus were active in the compact car segment. With its powerful powertrain, sporty design and five-star crash safety, the Verna captures its target demographic.
In terms of sales, Verna will be phased out by Virtus and Slavia in September 2024. To boost sales, Hyundai has upped the Verna’s sporty look with a rear spoiler and new Amazon Gray lampshades. Let’s take a look.
Hyundai Verna becomes sportier
For the festive season, Hyundai has added to the sporty look of the Verna with a new rear spoiler. Regardless of how it looks, it’s a one-piece spoiler with an odd design. In this segment, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz also offers a spoiler as an option. The Veena’s spoiler does not have integrated brake lights.
Verna has also launched a new Amazon Gray shade, adding 7 monotone shades to the palette – Typhoon Silver, Fire Red, Starry Night, Titan Grey, Abyss Black, Atlas White and Saturn Brown. There are also two-tone colors – Atlas White with a black roof and Fiery Red with a black roof.

The Verna is available in four trim levels: EX, S, SX and SX (O). Developed based on the company’s global design philosophy of “Sensuous Movement”, the car measures 4,535 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, 1,475 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,670 mm. At these dimensions, width and wheelbase are best in class.
The new Hyundai Verna features LED headlights, horizontal LED positioning lights and daytime running lights (DRL), giving it a sporty look. The parametric front grille, Z-shaped lines on both sides, multiple chrome elements, parametric connected LED taillights and shark fin antenna are all eye-catching. The new Hyundai Verna comes with 205/55 R16 (D=405.6 mm) diamond cut alloy wheels. The trunk space reaches 528L, once again becoming the largest in the compact car segment.
The interior features a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with 65 connected car features, Hyundai BlueLink and Bose Premium Sound 8-speaker system. It also comes with a 10.25-inch instrument screen, ventilated and heated front seats, and a voice-enabled electric sunroof.

Sports performance
There are over 65 advanced safety features and 17 modern SmartSense – Level 2 ADAS features. It also comes with 33 safety equipment as standard, including a total of 6 airbags, seat belt reminder, speed-sensitive car door locks, impact-sensitive car door locks, and ABS and EBD. These features also extend to car headlights, emergency stop signals, ISOFIX child seat mounts, anti-theft alarm, keyless entry and rear parking sensors.
The 1.5-liter MPi petrol engine provides 115 horsepower and 143.8 Nm, matched with a 6-speed manual transmission and IVT. There is also a 1.5-liter turbocharged GDi petrol engine with 160 hp and 253 Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT. The new Verna comes with three driving modes – Normal, Eco and Sport.
