ICOTY 2025: MG Windsor EV named Green Car of the Year; BMW

As electric vehicles become more popular, the green car category has some exciting contenders. The competition was very fierce, with 8 strong cars including Tata Punch EV and Mini Countryman EV vying for the top honor. The vehicles were carefully evaluated on a range of criteria including technological innovation, value for money, price, styling, comfort, safety, performance, practicality and suitability for Indian driving conditions. Notably, the Mahindra Thar Roxx emerged as the Indian Car of the Year, while the Mercedes-Benz E-Class won the Premium Car of the Year title.

Here are the key features and specifications of the Green Car of the Year that helped it win this prestigious award.

MG Windsor electric car specifications

The MG Windsor EV comes in three models (Excite, Essence and Exclusive) and is powered by an IP67-rated 38kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery with a cruising range of 332 kilometers. MG Smart CUV (Crossover Utility Vehicle) is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power output of 134 horsepower and a peak torque of 200 Nm. It has four driving modes: Eco, Eco+, Normal and Sport. Using a DC fast charger with a capacity of up to 45kW, an electric vehicle can be fully charged in 55 minutes.

In terms of features, the MG Windsor EV has 135-degree reclining airline lounge rear seats, a 15.6-inch “Grandview” main touchscreen, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster with seamless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, and a leather-wrapped two-spoke steering wheel. and a panoramic glass roof.

The cabin features 256 multi-color LED ambient lighting and a 9-speaker Infinity sound system. In terms of safety, the MG EV is equipped with a 360-degree surround-view camera system, six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), electronic parking brake system with automatic parking function and tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

The MG Windsor EV is priced at Rs 13.50 lakh for the base Excite variant, Rs 14.50 lakh for the mid-size Exclusive variant and Rs 15.50 lakh for the top-end Essence variant. For those opting for battery-as-a-service, the price range is Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 11.99 lakh. These are ex-showroom prices.
