As 2024 comes to an end, the IMEX team looks back on a year filled with uncertainty and unease for many of us.
Like our brand, our mission is to uplift you and help the global event community feel inspired; grateful for who we are, what we do, and how we strive to have a more positive impact on the world.
In the spirit of injecting optimism and holiday cheer, we look forward to 2025 with a relaxed attitude.
What we want to say hello is:
- Ah, the good old days! expected nostalgia and an even stronger comeback in 2025. When the world around us seems unstable, we tend to recall comfortable, familiar feelings from the past. Old bands reunited with much fanfare (Oasis), while OGs took on new meaning and dynamics (Twisters). Even fashion is harder to look back on – so break out your millennial sparkly silver jumpsuit and let’s jump! Who can blame us?
- Right here and now – the next generation becomes current generation. According to the Freeman Trends Report, Gen Z has officially surpassed Baby Boomers in the workforce. This means that the next generation is actually Now Gen and they are shaping trends, driving innovation and calling for real connections. By 2025, we hope the global events industry will rise together and welcome them into the fold. Because we need you, “people of the present.”
- future dusk Anyone? Pantone’s Color of the Year has always been a major event in the design world. Pantone predicts that the color of the year for 2025 is Future Dusk, a blend of deep violet and midnight blue. Remember when Peach Fuzz was met with skepticism and now it’s everywhere? Whether you like it or hate it, the twilight of the future is coming. We love the sound of this moody blue.
- community resilience – ensuring that we are equipped to cope and adapt to the world and, most importantly, that we create the same space for others to do the same. IMEX America’s Neu Project Resilience Space is the epitome of community resilience—open to all, this soothing environment provides a space for people to de-stress physically and mentally. Google Xi co-founder Megan Henshall calls it “an invitation for people to get what they need and expand their self-care.”
- It doesn’t matter pleasure! We are human beings, and humans are designed to experience moments of awe and joy together. It’s one of the reasons some of IMEX’s silliest yet most heartfelt social media videos have gotten so much love this year. If you’re smiling with us, we’re not opposed to putting on a smile and making fun of yourself. After all, there is no point in laughing alone! Look forward to us investing more “oi” in joy in 2025.
So, there you have it. IMEX’s vision for the world in 2025 is less serious. Whatever happens, let us approach it with good intentions, optimism and a collective desire to make a positive impact on the world.
