Compared to direct rivals, MG Cyberster is probably India’s most affordable roadster with convertible roof and scissor doors
JSW MG Motor India is all set to bring a revolution in the electric mobility space in the Indian automotive landscape. After solidifying its position as the leading mainstream electric car manufacturer, MG now delivers a bombshell in the form of the Cyberster 2-door electric sports car. Ahead of the Bharat Mobile Expo, details about the India-spec model have been revealed.
India-spec MG Cyberster
Over time, India has developed into one of the leading automobile markets in the world. In addition to local Indian brands, there are now many foreign companies operating in the Indian market. However, these brands often don’t bring the cars that Indian car fans crave. JSW MG Motor India doesn’t think so.
The company is all set to launch its new 2-door Cyberster electric sports car in India. It will be the first model to be launched through MG Select premium dealers. As far as pricing goes, clarity is pretty low. However, considering MG’s aggressive pricing strategy in the past, we expect the Cyberster to be priced around Rs 60 lakh to Rs 70 lakh (ex-sh).
Since this is a performance-oriented vehicle, we had to address the performance issues of the India-spec Cyberster. With a powerful chassis and a large 77 kWh battery pack, the MG Cyberster is able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds. The battery powers two electric motors on both of the Cyberster’s axles for an all-wheel-drive layout.
As a sports car, the MG Cyberster also needs to handle like a sports car. In this regard, MG provides the Cyberster with front double-wishbone suspension and rear independent multi-link suspension.
two-door roadster
Roadster has been on sale in the Indian market for a long time. But not at the price point that the MG Cyberster is expected to launch at. Many people would consider the Cyberster a very nice two-door Roadster. The main highlight is that it has scissor doors that open outwards and upwards. Lamborghini doors, as they are vulgarly called.
MG Motor India is expected to launch a fully loaded version of the Cyberster with all the bells and whistles. The interior layout is modern and stunning, with high-quality materials expected from a vehicle of this type. A multi-screen layout on the dashboard, a huge center console, a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel and leather upholstery are some of the notable features.
Other notable features include a convertible roof, frameless windows, full LED lighting, huge wheels, a large underbody diffuser for extensive aerodynamics, and more. MG Cyberster will be unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Expo and will be launched by the end of 2025. Prior to this, MG is expected to launch the Mifa-9 electric MPV in FY25.
