Several popular car manufacturers including Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Mahindra, Toyota and MG are gearing up to launch new hybrid vehicles in the near future

Entering the new year, several automakers are preparing to launch hybrid SUVs on the market. The leaders are Maruti Suzuki and Toyota, which plan to expand their mid-size SUV lineup. Their popular five-seat models, the Grand Vitara and Urban Cruiser Hyryder, are expected to be available in three-row versions, expected to be launched in the first half of 2025. Buyers may be able to choose from six- and seven-seat configurations.

A few days ago, the three-row Grand Vitara was spotted testing the design inspiration of the e Vitara. This shift hints that the upcoming model will be more upmarket than the standard five-seat version. While 2025 will see a surge in EV debuts, the hybrid segment is also gearing up for dramatic launches, although its growth trajectory is likely to be more gradual.

Maruti Suzuki is reportedly gearing up to launch a mid-life facelift of the Fronx, which is likely to feature a powerful hybrid system developed in-house. This advanced powertrain is expected to deliver impressive fuel efficiency of over 30 km/gallon. At the same time, the much-anticipated Toyota Fortuner MHEV model may also enter the Indian market. Leading automakers such as Mahindra and Tata Motors have highlighted the growing importance of alternative fuel options and hybrid technology.

MG is stepping up efforts to expand its electric vehicle lineup in India, signaling its clear focus on the growing EV market. Additionally, hybrid vehicles are reportedly being considered for launch. Meanwhile, Hyundai is speculated to be developing a new premium seven-seat hybrid SUV tailored specifically for the Indian market.

Hyundai Motor plans to manufacture its upcoming premium SUV at its Talegaon plant near Pune in Maharashtra. It is speculated that this SUV may share a platform with the long-wheelbase version of the Tucson currently sold in China. The latter has an impressive length of 4.68 meters, ample interior space and a prominent road stance.
