Is ceramic coating suitable for me?
Welcome to the second video in our Ceramic Coating Series. Now that you understand what ceramic coating is and what it does, let’s look at whether ceramic coating is right for you?
Let’s face it, not everyone is a car enthusiast. Some people own a car just for transportation, and they don’t care what kind of car they have. They want a way to get from point A to point B. If you’re watching this video, there’s a good chance you’re a car enthusiast, and even if you’re not, there are plenty of reasons to get ceramic coatings.
First let’s understand the reasons why you can’t get the coating.
1.) If you like to spend all day washing, cleaning and waxing your car, then coating may not be for you. For many of us, spending time in the garage cleaning and waxing our car is therapeutic. Waxing is a great way to protect your car if you plan to re-wax it every few months.
2.) If you are taking your car to any old car wash, a gas station car wash, a car wash that uses a filament brush, or have the neighborhood kid wash it with a broom, then don’t apply the coating. I will go into more detail on this later in the video, but ceramic coating is not foolproof, and just because you apply a coating doesn’t mean you can wash it however you want.
3.) If you don’t have the budget to buy a coating, that’s another perfectly valid reason not to buy one. Your car won’t fall apart or stop running because it doesn’t have one. Just make sure to use one of the other protectants regularly if you want to keep your paint looking good.
Now, let’s look at what type of people are suitable for ceramic coatings.
1.) Passionate – If you are passionate about cars and want the peace of mind of knowing that your investment is protected, or if you stand in your garage for hours just staring at your car, then you should definitely get a coating applied.
2.) Gloss – The coating has an incredible shine and if you walk back away after parking your car and admire your shiny, clean car, you may want ceramic coating too!
3.) For Convenience – If your weekends are busy and you don’t have time to wash and wax your car, then coating may be for you. If you like to wash your car yourself, then applying a coating to your car will make this task easier and more fun. Every time you wash your car, it will look like it was just waxed.
4.) Durability – If you have a new car, especially a dark colored one, and want to keep it looking brand new, then consider applying a coating. Coatings are much more durable than any type of wax or sealant. Coatings are scratch resistant to a certain extent, they help reduce small scratches and swirls, but don’t confuse this with scratch protection. Applying a ceramic coating to your vehicle will definitely help reduce the number of swirls that may appear when washing, but only if you follow the correct washing procedures. One bad wash can ruin all the hard work that was put into preparing and coating your vehicle.
So if it’s shine, depth, a deep, candy-like sheen you’re after, if you want to stand out at a car show, or if you want to feel like you’re driving a new car in 5 years, then you should apply a coat.
Not only is ceramic coating a better protectant than any wax or sealant, but if you compare the average coating cost to taking your car to a detailer every few months, over a few years you’ve saved money and time. Think about it, if you spend $100 waxing your car every three months, over three years that adds up to $1,200 plus the time you’ll spend taking your car to and from the detailer. Why not spend the same money on a longer-lasting, more durable, shinier coating that doesn’t require a trip to the detailer every three months?
I hope this video helps you decide if a certain coating is right for you, if you have done any research on coatings you know there are many options and it can be hard to know which coating is right for you. In the next video I will walk you through how to choose the right coating for your car.
