- Nissan’s $300 Z knife was handmade by Japanese big knife manufacturer Satoshi Kiryu.
- The knife’s design is inspired by the side profile of the iconic Nissan 240Z.
- Only 240 knives were produced, each knives had a unique number.
Nissan may be trying to find a partner’s terrible financial strait, but it somehow thinks it can create a special Z Nismo Precision Sushi knife. For whatever reason, it not only wants you to buy one of these cars, but also wants to use a Z brand knife in the kitchen.
This special knife was handmade by Japanese knife expert Satoshi Kiryu and is located in Niigata Prefecture. Only 240 examples will be made, paying tribute to the 240Z, each of which costs $300.23. Nissan said Kiryu has long been a fan of the Z model, and the side view of the Z inspired the knife’s design. Nissan Design America also works with sushi chef Hiroyuki Terada.

Each Nissan knife is individually marked as a red blade. Each knife also has the signature of the chef Hiro and Kiryu badges and is in a special box with six generations of different Z logos. The double-key blades are cut, ground and polished before perfectly sharpening.
“Chefs are only as good as their knives,” Trada said. “Handmade Kiriga-style knives like this can allow us to take craftsmanship to the highest level. Whether you are a professional chef or a passionate home cook, you will immediately feel the quality in your hands.”
Of course, it is controversial whether those who buy the knife use it for cutting sushi rather than as display pieces. But if you want to own a Nissan Z product, this can be a cool one, even if something unusual is your collection.
