Jaguar Cybertruck mashup proves we’re all just living in it

  • The designers of the Jaguar Type 00 Concept clearly weren’t afraid to create something unique.
  • Tesla also broke the appearance mold of pickup trucks when it launched the Cybertruck.
  • Of course, this is just a design exercise, as we highly doubt Jaguar will ever make a pickup truck.

In late 2024, Jaguar took the wraps off the Type 00 concept, a car that previews its next-generation electric sedan. It’s been a hot topic in the automotive industry since its launch, not just because it doesn’t look like anything Jaguar has ever made before, but because the British automaker has ditched the traditional design playbook to create something truly original. . Let’s just say you wouldn’t mistake it for your neighbor’s XE in the Whole Foods parking lot.

Meanwhile, Tesla’s Cybertruck — love it, hate it, or grudgingly accept its existence — has spent the past year solidifying its status as a paragon of automotive controversy. With its undeniably radical design, it’s arguably the most unconventional mass-market production vehicle to hit the roads in the past decade.

While the Jaguar Type 00’s styling isn’t as unorthodox as the Cybertruck’s, there’s no doubt it’s unique. In fact, one designer took it upon himself to combine the two, resulting in the so-called “Jaguar Cybertruck.”

This project is sponsored by studio enemytakes the form of a smaller two-door version of the Cybertruck and is transplanted seamlessly onto the Type 00’s front and rear fascias. The front end features the same split LEDs as the Jaguar, although the top LEDs are now positioned diagonally for added drama. The sharp design element continues with the addition of a small faux grille next to the black lower bumper section.

The tapered roof similar to the road version of the Cybertruck is retained, while the elimination of the rear door highlights the length of the wheelbase. And, since this is still a Jaguar-inspired design, Studio Enemy swapped Tesla’s infamous plastic aerodynamic covers for the more refined and luxurious alloys from the Type 00 concept.

The rear end of the Type 00 was probably the most radical part of its design, and it was also used in truck conversions. It has the same horizontal slats, and the designers also added two visible LED light strips. There’s also a retractable lid, similar to the Cybertruck’s tonneau cover.

As far as Tesla is concerned, the production version of the Cybertruck is nearly identical to the concept car first previewed, making it one of the rare examples of a concept car’s promise translating directly into reality. As for the Jaguar Type 00, the road-going version is also expected to be largely faithful to the concept’s design, albeit as a four-door sedan rather than a coupe. However, we’ll have to wait until the end of 2025 to finally see what it really looks like.
