Jaguar recalls 2019 I-PACE again due to battery fires

About 2,800 Jaguar I-PACE SUVs have been recalled, but vehicles continue to catch fire.

— Jaguar is recalling its 2019 Jaguar I-PACE SUVs due to overheating of the high-voltage battery, which could lead to fires.

Nearly 2,800 2019 all-electric I-PACE vehicles are being recalled, with owners warned to park and charge their SUVs outdoors, away from objects that could catch fire.

The warning applies before the I-PACE SUV is serviced by a dealer and for 30 days after service.

The 2019 Jaguar I-PACE SUV was recalled in the past due to the same battery fire risk. In May 2023, Jaguar’s 2019-2024 I-PACE vehicles were recalled after eight battery fires were reported.

According to Jaguar:

“Owners who previously updated their vehicles with improved diagnostic software believed their vehicles were protected from thermal overload, but this may not be the case for 2019 vehicles.”

Jaguar has discovered that battery fires are still occurring in 2019 SUVs that it said had been fixed.

Jaguar says no accidents reported, but three I-PACE fires reported in the US

As a temporary fix, dealers will update the battery energy control module software. However, Jaguar said “the final remedy is currently being developed.”

The Jaguar I-PACE battery fire recall letter is expected to be mailed on October 18, 2024.

Jaguar I-PACE owners can call 800-452-4827 to inquire about battery fire recall H514.
