Jawa 42FJ launched in India at Rs.

Jawa-Yezdi Motorcycles has expanded its Jawa 42 lineup with a new roadster, the 42 FJ. The new Jawa 42 FJ has a sportier design, a bigger 334cc engine and new colour schemes compared to the relatively older Jawa 42. It is priced from Rs 1.99 lakh to Rs 2.2 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The launch of the car comes almost a month after the company launched the upgraded version of the already on-sale Jawa 42.

While the updates to the old Jawa 42 are mostly limited to engine tweaks, the 42 FJ gets a slimmer fuel tank (with a brushed aluminium finish and ‘Jawa’ decals), a new one-piece seat and a one-piece handlebar. The fenders and side panels are very similar to the regular 42, while the diamond-cut alloy wheels appear to have been borrowed from the 42 Bobber. Other design elements include split grab rails and upswept twin exhaust pipes. Features-wise, the Jawa 42 FJ gets full LED lighting, a digital instrument cluster (with Bluetooth connectivity), an offset speedometer, assist and slipper clutch, and dual-channel ABS (standard).

Jawa 42 FJ: Powertrain

The new Jawa 42FJ is powered by a 334cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine which is also used in the Jawa 350. In the Jawa 350, the 334cc Alpha-2 engine produces 22.2bhp of power at 7,000rpm and 28.2Nm of peak torque at 5,000rpm, while the Jawa 42FJ engine produces 29bhp of power and 29.6Nm of peak torque at 5,000rpm. Transmission is taken care of by a 6-speed unit.

Java 42 FJ: Hardware

The Jawa 42FJ has a double cradle tubular frame, suspended on telescopic front forks, rear shock absorbers with 5-level preload adjustability, and braking is handled by Brembo brake discs. The motorcycle is available with a choice of wire spoke or alloy wheels, covered with rubber tyres.
