Fairfield, Connecticut – Probably artificial meat, but the popularity of plant-based proteins is real. From 2024 to 2030, the global industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 19.4%, worth approximately US$24.7 billion. This progress inspired the JD Event (JDE) to sell the Organizer Plant-based World (PBW) to Emerald.
JDE launched PBW in 2019, when the global industry was worth approximately $3.4 billion. Its B2B activities include the Plant-Based World Expo North America and Plant-Based World Expo Europe, as well as the digital news platform PBW Pulse connects the industry’s global supply network and helps them develop, source and distribute products.
According to JDE’s founder Joel Davis, the brand surpassed JDE’s bandwidth as the plant industry flourished rapidly, driving the decision to sell. Value creation and M&A consulting firm Collingwood advised JDE during the sale.
“JDE is a small boutique company that incubates trade shows,” explains Joel Davis, founder of JDE. “We have been launching, building and divesting events for 23 years. It’s our unique business model that can prove the concept of performance, build market leadership, and then find new owners to take the business to the next level. It’s the right time to sell PBW.”
Davis shared that PBW Events’ on-site hosting buyer program, which is easy to find high value connections, is very popular among attendees and exhibitors.
“This is also a valuable aspect of the business for potential buyers and supports what Collingwood is seeing throughout the market as buyers and investors doubling their appetite for increasing the value of the event itself and the customer and audience of the event itself,” Davis explained.

Davis said Emerald has expressed real interest in the brand for many years and is most committed to investing in its future and team, and he will help PBW continue to grow, strengthen its leading market position, bring value to a plant-based ecosystem and meet global demand for plant-based products.
“The resources of Jade are much larger than JDE to support the strategic growth plan of the PBW brand, and the PBW team has more resources both domestically and globally,” Davis said. “The M&A landscape for high-quality trade fair brands is opening up. Investors and strategic buyers have a great demand for a well-located high-value wall ches event business. The PBW transaction reflects this trend, indicating that good high-growth, high-growth events continue to arouse significant interest.”
The next factory-based world expo North America will be held at Javits Center from December 2-3, 2025. The next factory-based world fair Europe is scheduled to be held in London Excel from November 26-27, 2025.
