Jeep 4xe fire recall follows 13 Jeep 4xe fires

Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe owners are warned not to charge their Jeeps.

— The Jeep 4xe fire recall affects more than 194,000 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe vehicles after at least 13 fires.

FCA is warning owners of the 2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe SUV to stop charging their vehicles until the vehicles are repaired.

Jeep 4xe vehicles should also be parked away from any possible fire hazard.

The Jeep plug-in hybrids that caught fire were parked and turned off, and Chrysler said the risk of a Jeep 4xe fire is reduced when the battery is depleted.

FCA discovered 13 Jeep 4xe fires while reviewing customer data, and the automaker said it estimated the problem could affect 5% of Jeeps.

In November 2023, Jeep Wrangler 4xe vehicles were recalled due to the same problem (recall number 23V-787), and these owners need to take the Wrangler back to the dealer for repairs.

Not much other information has been released, but the latest Jeep 4xe fire recall includes more than 154,000 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe SUVs in the United States, more than 14,000 in Canada, 673 in Mexico, and about 25,500 Jeep 4xe vehicles. Recalled outside North America.

Chrysler said “remediation is urgent” and all Jeep 4xe customers should follow the instructions on the recall notice. Jeep 4xe fire recall letters should be mailed by October 17, 2024.

Owners of the 2020-2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe and 2022-2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe SUV can call 800-853-1403.
