It all started when Cullinan was snatched from the valet parking lot at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort around 2 a.m. The suspect, later identified as Malik Patterson, traveled a full six miles before ending in foreseeable disaster – with Cheek on West Broward Avenue. The teams collided directly. There’s something almost poetic and ironic about a six-figure luxury SUV meeting its fate at a drive-thru restaurant built for two-for-one chili dogs.

According to Google Maps, the drive from the Hilton hotel to this Checkers restaurant is only 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) and usually takes 12 to 18 minutes without traffic.

Footage after the accident shows the front end of the facelifted Rolls-Royce Cullinan being severely damaged. The side airbags deployed, the signal lights turned on and the rear suicide door on the driver’s side remained open. The restaurant was severely damaged and required a building inspection.

Police said they received a call about a stolen vehicle around 2:15 a.m. and later spotted the vehicle traveling west on West Broward Avenue. Police said they did not initiate a pursuit before the crash, which sounds like classic driver error. Turns out, driving a 6,000-pound luxury SUV isn’t as easy as it looks in GTA.

The suspect, who was reportedly uninjured, attempted to flee but was spotted nearby and arrested. He now faces charges of vehicle theft, resisting arrest without violence, fleeing and eluding police, leaving the scene of a crash causing property damage and felony probation violation stemming from outstanding warrants in Broward and Placer counties in California.

As for the owner of the Rolls-Royce SUV, he was sleeping quietly in the hotel when all this happened. He was later informed by hotel staff that when he arrived he found his prized possession in ruins. talking local 10“I’m definitely not shocked,” he said. It’s a Rolls-Royce – people like to steal some good stuff and go for a joyride,” he said, adding, “That joyride didn’t end well for this guy. He was locked up and his car totaled.

This isn’t the first time a Rolls-Royce Cullinan has been stolen. Back in November 2023, a gray Cullinan was haphazardly carried out of an Atlanta hotel. Just two months later, in January 2024, another white fish disappeared from a Miami restaurant.
