  • Karma has unveiled the new Invictus, a limited-edition model based on the Revero sedan.
  • It features a carbon fiber body and an upgraded interior with special trim.
  • It’s powered by a range extender that delivers 536 horsepower and up to 80 miles of electric range.

Karma Automotive has been flying under the radar, but now the company has launched the new Invictus. It’s billed as a “performance-focused expression of the groundbreaking Revero sedan.”

While the model is very similar to the Fisker Karma launched nearly fifteen years ago, the Invictus gets a radical carbon fiber makeover. As you can see, the sedan features a carbon fiber hood, roof, and trunk. They are connected by new carbon fiber front fenders that feature functional vents above the wheels.

The carbon fiber extravaganza doesn’t end here, the lightweight material can also be found on the grille, side skirts, rear spoiler and diffuser. They come with black badging and 21-inch aluminum wheels shod with slightly wider Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires.

Changes to the interior are more modest, but there are heated and ventilated front seats with “Art Deco graphics reminiscent of New York’s famous Chrysler Building.” This pattern is also echoed on the door panels and center console. Elsewhere there are embroidered headrests and anodized aluminum door sill panels.

Because the Invictus is based on the third-generation Revero, the model has an extended-range electric powertrain consisting of a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, a 28 kWh battery pack, and two electric motors. This gives the sedan a combined output of 536 hp (400 kW / 543 PS) and 550 lb-ft (745 Nm) of torque, with an all-electric driving range of up to 80 miles (129 km).

While the powertrain appears to be unaffected, 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time drops from 4.5 seconds to 3.97 seconds. This is likely due to reduced weight and increased traction.

Performance upgrades continue with a revised suspension that includes Ohlins coilovers and Swift springs. The company goes on to say that the model “offers more direct, precise steering and improves grip and predictability at the limits of cornering and on uneven surfaces.” On paper, this sounds promising, But we’ll have to see if it translates into a more attractive drive.

Although Karma hasn’t revealed pricing or delivery schedule, production will be limited to 30 units.
