The Korean carmaker’s new sub-4 meter SUV Kia Clavis has been teased ahead of its official debut. This will be the brand’s first made-in-India SUV under Kia’s 2.0 strategy, which emphasizes enhanced vehicle design and technology. The automaker describes the Clavis as a “new breed of SUV,” featuring Kia’s Design 2.0 philosophy and starting from Come to EV9 and New Fiesta limousine.
The official trailer shows off its silhouette and tall boy stance. Notable features include vertically positioned LED daytime running lights, a flat roofline with functional roof rails, flush door handles and pillar-mounted L-shaped LED taillights. It will also feature high-mounted brake lights and bumper-integrated brake lights. Previous spy shots have revealed that the upcoming Kia compact SUV will feature the brand’s signature grille, vertically stacked projector headlights with LED elements, LED DRLs and four-spoke alloy wheels.
Reports say that the Kia Clavis will offer better rear seat space and comfort than the Sonet. With its tall stance, this compact SUV will provide ample headroom for all passengers. While feature details of the Clavis have yet to be revealed, the subcompact SUV is expected to include leatherette upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and power front seats, a 10.25-inch dual-screen setup, tow mode, a Bose sound system and more.
Some features will be available exclusively on higher-end models, including ADAS packages. The Clavis’ safety kit will also include a 360-degree camera, tire pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, six airbags, front parking sensors and rear disc brakes.
The upcoming Kia Clavis is likely to be available in three powertrains – petrol, diesel and electric. The petrol version is expected to be equipped with a 1.0L turbo engine (118bhp/172Nm) and naturally aspirated setup, while the diesel version is likely to be equipped with a 1.5L engine. As of now, the specifications of the Clavis EV have not been revealed.
