

To ensure that it meets the desired needs of the target audience, Kia is bringing the top-of-the-line GT-Line AWD version of the EV9 to India.
Kia is preparing the EV9 for the Indian market after launching the EV6 in 2022. It will be imported via the CBU route and positioned as the company’s new flagship in India. It is expected to be launched on October 3.
Kia EV9 India Edition – Styling and Features
With its sleek and muscular body, the Kia EV9 commands a commanding presence on the road. The large size of the SUV is another factor in its bold personality. The Kia EV9 is 5,015 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, 1,780 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 3,100 mm. Some of the exterior highlights include Ice Cube LED projector headlamps, Star Pattern LED daytime running lights and a digital pattern illuminated grille.

The side profile is enhanced by the use of large 20-inch crystal cut alloy wheels. The SUV features a dynamic welcome feature, gloss black ORVMs, practical roof rails and body-coloured automatic flush door handles. The latest spy shots are attributed to car enthusiast Mallesh.
The bronze sport skid plate, gloss black wheel arch cladding, gloss black door garnishes (with bronze paint) and gloss black waistline further enhance the look and feel of the SUV. The SUV comes with rain sensing wipers, rear spoiler, LED rear fog lamps, hidden rear wiper and star pattern LED rear combination lamps.

Designed for luxury and indulgence, the Kia EV9 comes with two-tone leatherette seats, a leatherette steering wheel with illuminated logo, and a suede headliner. Users can enjoy 64-color ambient lighting, rear sliding curtains, metal scuff plates, and sports alloy pedals. The Kia EV9 comes with dual sunroofs, paddle shifters, electrically adjustable driver and front passenger seats, and second-row electrically adjustable seats with massage function. Both the front and second-row seats are heated and ventilated.

The technology package includes dual 12.3-inch screens, 5-inch HD HVAC control unit, hidden haptic touchscreen buttons, Meridian premium sound system with 14 speakers and active sound design. The Kia EV9 has special features such as vehicle-to-load. Other highlights include OTA updates, head-up display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electronic parking brake with auto-hold function and 3-zone fully automatic temperature control. There is a wireless charger with cooling function, Type-C USB ports for all rows and digital IRVM. Kia offers more than 100 connectivity features through Kia Connect.
Kia EV9 Safety Kit
The Indian version of the EV9 is equipped with more than 20 Level 2 ADAS features. These include blind-view monitor, 360° camera, blind-spot collision avoidance assist, forward collision avoidance assist, and lane keeping assist. Other safety features include 10 airbags, electronic stability control, hill-down brake control, multi-collision braking, vehicle stability management, all-wheel disc brakes, emergency stop signal, and front, side, and rear parking sensors.
Kia EV9 specifications, range, price
The Kia EV9 is equipped with a battery pack with a capacity of up to 99.8 kWh and a range of up to 561 km (ARAI MIDC-Full). The SUV will be available in an all-wheel drive version with two electric motors. The combined output is 384 hp and 700 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes only 5.3 seconds. Charging time is quite fast, with a 10% to 80% charge in 24 minutes using a DC fast charger.
The Kia EV9 is expected to be priced around Rs 1 crore. It won’t have any direct competitors when it launches. However, it will be a good choice compared to luxury electric SUVs like the BMW iX, Mercedes EQE SUV and Audi Q8 e-tron.
