— More than 22,000 Kia EV9 SUVs are being recalled due to problems with the second- and third-row seats.
The recalled 2024-2025 EV9s may have missing seat mounting bolts, which could cause real problems in a crash.
The workers at the assembly plant were probably talked over because they made the mistake.
Kia received a report in September that the 2024 Kia EV9 was missing third-row seat mounting bolts.
A second report said another 2024 EV9 was missing bolts, so Kia checked dozens of cars but found nothing wrong. But a third report of a dealer warranty claim was received.
At this point the problem was traced to a worker error.
Kia is not aware of any crashes or injuries, but customers should watch for loose or rattling seats.
Once EV9 recall notices are mailed out in January 2025, Kia dealers will install any missing seat mounting bolts.
Kia EV9 owners with questions can call 800-333-4542 and ask for seat mounting bolt recall number SC329.
