The new Kia may be called Clavis or Syros, with both nameplates already trademarked by the automaker. Its launch will be part of the “Kia 2.0 strategy” in the region and could be launched in early 2025.

The black teaser reveals the SUV’s boxy silhouette, which looks a bit like a baby version of the Kia Carnival minivan, with a flat roofline and an almost vertical tailgate. The silhouette features strong B-pillars reminiscent of the modern Casper and Inster. We can also see sculpted fenders, sharp LED headlights, and L-shaped taillights surrounding the rear windshield.

Gwanggu Lee, managing director and CEO of Kia India, said the new model adopts a “progressive SUV design language and no longer follows traditional SUV design”. The CEO also promised that it will offer “segment-first features, superior performance and unparalleled comfort” with a focus on the needs of Indian buyers.
Kia said the “lounge-like” interior will have “futuristic features and an innovative seating layout,” Autocar India reported. Equipment may include a digital cockpit, electrically ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, a Bose sound system, up to six airbags and a host of safety features.
Local media reported that the SUV will use a new architecture and offer a choice between ICE and EV powertrains. At launch, it’s expected to be powered by a naturally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engine sending power to the front wheels via a manual or automatic gearbox.
We expect to learn more about the upcoming Kia in the coming months, ahead of its 2025 launch.
