Kia Syros EV will compete with the likes of Tata Nexon EV and upcoming Mahindra XUV 3XO EV in the Indian market
Kia recently launched the Syros in the Indian market. The compact SUV is positioned between the Sonet and Seltos in the brand’s lineup and comes packed with technology features. It was speculated that a fully electric version of the Syros is also expected and now, its launch in India has been confirmed. The Syros EV is expected to go on sale sometime in 2026 and will be the Korean brand’s first mass-market electric vehicle in the country.
Talking about the details, the Syros is built on the strengthened K1 platform and the upcoming all-electric SUV is likely to ride on the same underpinnings. However, the platform can be modified to accommodate electric powertrain components. Judging from the current design, the Syros appears to be electric, which means there will be almost no major changes in the design of the electric version.
We expect the Syros EV to feature revised bumpers, new aero-efficient alloy wheels and some EV-specific branding. Elements such as the headlights, taillights, strong bodyside panels and flush door handles are likely to remain intact. Inside the cabin, the Syros EV is likely to feature a familiar dashboard layout, although there are some changes to the interior to differentiate it from conventionally powered SUVs.

In terms of features, the Syros fully electric version may retain the current level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, electric driver’s seat, 12.3-inch infotainment system, front and rear seat ventilation and ambient lighting. The package will also include other safety features such as 6 airbags, a 360-degree parking camera and electronic stability control.
While powertrain details are unclear at the moment, we expect the Syros EV to claim a range of around 400 kilometers on a single charge, which would put it on par with its rivals. The internationally sold Hyundai Inster EV is also based on the same platform.

This means the Syros EV can share powertrain components with the Inster EV, including 42kWh and 49kWh battery packs. It’s important to note that these are just speculations, and exact details can only be confirmed at launch.
