Syros will be Kia’s seventh car launched in India after Sonet, Carens, Seltos, Carnival, EV6 and EV9
Kia has officially announced that its much-anticipated compact SUV Syros will make its global debut on December 19. Following several teasers, the announcement adds to the excitement around Kia’s latest offering, which will close the gap with the popular Sonet. and Seltos in the brand’s lineup. Designed to meet the evolving needs of Indian customers, Syros aims to be a game-changer in the highly competitive compact SUV segment.
Key Highlights from the Trailer
Syros attracts attention with its modern design language, which highlights Kia’s signature tiger-nose grille, vertically stacked LED headlights and striking LED daytime running lights. Its bold and boxy silhouette exudes road presence, while the addition of stylish LED taillights further enhances its visual appeal. One of the standout features revealed in the trailer is the panoramic sunroof, which not only enhances the cabin ambience but also makes the Syros one of the more premium options in its class.
Teaser also confirmed the addition of ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) technology, with a windshield-mounted camera hinting at features such as adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and a collision avoidance system. These advanced safety measures are expected to make the Syros a leader among compact SUVs in terms of technology levels and safety.
While the interior has yet to be fully revealed, spy shots and leaked details suggest the cabin is well-appointed with a dual-tone theme, a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument panel, wireless charging and ventilated front seats. Safety features such as six airbags, parking sensors, 360-degree camera and hill assist are likely to come standard on higher variants.
Expected engine options
The Syros is expected to be powered by a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine paired with a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT to meet the needs of enthusiasts who pursue performance and convenience. In addition, Kia may also launch an electric version of Syros, which is rumored to have a cruising range of 350-400 kilometers. The electric version will target environmentally conscious buyers and compete with models such as the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400, cementing Kia’s position in the growing electric vehicle market.
