In the sequential analysis, all KTM products showed overall healthy positive growth, while only 250 product lines achieved year-on-year growth
Iconic sports motorcycle manufacturer KTM ends September 2024 with mixed emotions. KTM’s domestic, export and total sales continued to decline year-on-year. While the company’s 390 series leads in exports, the 200 series leads in total and domestic sales.
The company is also preparing to import some of its larger bikes into the Indian market again. Some dealers have also announced pre-orders. Expected models include the 890 Adventure R, 1390 Super Duke R and 1390 Super Adventure. A launch date has not yet been announced.
KTM Sales Breakdown September 2024 – Domestic
KTM’s domestic sales in September 2024 were 4,606 units. Compared with sales of 4,690 units in September 2023 and 4,123 units in August 2024, KTM’s domestic sales fell by 1.79% year-on-year and surged by double digits by 11.71% month-on-month, with sales increasing by 483 units. The 200-unit lineup consisting of Duke and RC models accounted for 64.18% of KTM’s domestic sales.
There were 2,956 sets of 200 series, a year-on-year decrease of 5.01%, but a healthy growth of 26.76% month-on-month. The 250 series is the only product with year-on-year growth in the domestic market, with sales of 816 units, a year-on-year increase of 215.06%, but a month-on-month decrease of 16.05%. The 390 series sold 695 units and fell into a complete loss, a year-on-year decrease of 37.72% and a month-on-month decrease of 2.25%. Finally, a total of 139 units of the 125 series were sold, a year-on-year decrease of 31.53%, but a staggering month-on-month increase of 28.70%.
Export volume September 2024
Internationally, KTM’s 390 series is very popular, accounting for 38.62% of KTM’s export volume in the sales rankings. A total of 716 vehicles were shipped last month, including 390 models such as Adventure, RC and Duke, a year-on-year decrease of 37.79% and a month-on-month increase of 6.87%.
The 200 series products fell into losses across the board, with shipments of 698 units, a year-on-year decrease of 28.34% and a month-on-month decrease of 4.64%. Compared with last year’s shipment of 4 units out of 250 units, a total of 440 units were sold this year, a year-on-year increase of 10,900% and a month-on-month increase of 74.60%. There were zero exports of the 125 lineup last month. Overall, KTM’s export volume was 1,854 units, a year-on-year decrease of 12.92% and a month-on-month increase of 11.08%.
Total Sales September 2024
In terms of total sales (domestic + export), the 200 model once again led the way with sales of 3,654 units. This resulted in a year-on-year decrease of 10.57%, but a significant month-on-month increase of 19.26%, with sales increasing by 590 units, accounting for 56.56% of KTM’s total sales. Followed by the 390 series, 1,411 units were sold, a year-on-year decrease of 37.76% and a month-on-month increase of 2.17%.
KTM’s 250 model was the only model to post positive growth both year-on-year (377.57%) and month-on-month (2.61%), with 1,256 units sold last month. Finally, we have a product lineup of 125 and successfully launched 139 units, a year-on-year decrease of 31.53% and a month-on-month increase of 13.01%. KTM launched a total of 6,460 domestic and export vehicles, a year-on-year decrease of 5.26% and a month-on-month increase of 11.53%.
