Lamborghini Huracan saved from flaming inferno in central London
  • A bystander quickly put out the flames with a fire extinguisher.
  • Many of the supercar’s electrical wiring were destroyed by the flames.
  • There is no word yet on what actually started the fire.

Lamborghinis are fiery beasts, and if it weren’t for a pair of quick thinkers in London, a black Huracan Technica could easily end up in hell. Tip: If you own a Lamborghini or any other high-performance supercar, it might be a good idea to carry a fire extinguisher with you.

The incident happened on Baker Street near the center of the British capital earlier this week. Video captured by a bystander shows a man, presumably the owner/driver, pulling over to the side of the road and opening the hood of the Huracan. Small flames could be seen shooting from the top of the engine, sending a small plume of smoke into the air and scorching the engine cover.

Shortly after the video begins, a pair of men appear again. One of them took a fire extinguisher and quickly sprayed the Lamborghini’s 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine to put out the flames.

It’s unclear what started the fire. Video taken after the fire showed some of the wires running through the engine bay were burned, perhaps suggesting the fire may have been caused by one of the cables.

If the damage is limited to the wiring harness, the car may be repairable. However, repairing it can be tricky, especially if large sections of wiring need to be replaced or sewn. The fire may have also damaged some other areas of the engine bay, and this being a Lamborghini, any parts that may need to be replaced are going to be very, very expensive.

Things could have been worse. We’ve seen a lot of Lamborghinis burn out over the years, and in late December, the Italian brand recalled two Revuelto models in the U.S. due to an increased risk of fire due to potential oil leaks.
