One is much faster than the other, and it’s impressive how it reduces power consumption

- Drag Times just raced a new Lamborghini Revuelto against a McLaren 765 LT Spider.
- Not only did they do the traditional 1/4 mile drag race, they also did the 1/2 mile drag race.
- It turns out that extra horsepower and all-wheel drive make a huge difference.
The Lamborghini Revuelto is obviously incredibly fast. As the new flagship of the Italian brand, this is no surprise. What’s shocking is just how fast In fact it is. This video shows it going up against the McLaren 765LT, demonstrating the difference between “pure” supercar and supercar performance levels.
Let’s get some numbers right from the start. The McLaren sells for about $500,000 and is powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine producing 765 horsepower (570 kilowatts). The Lamborghini sells for more than $680,000 and is powered by a 6.5-liter hybrid V12 engine with a total of 1,015 horsepower (756 kilowatts).

This lack of power, combined with the fact that the Revuelto is all-wheel drive, is too much for a British rear-wheel-drive supercar to overcome. This was evident from the moment the flag dropped in the half-mile drag race between McLaren and Lamborghini. The Revuelto quickly took the lead and then never let the 765LT catch up.
In fact, Lamborghini pulled off this stunt with stellar performance figures in back-to-back races. It accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.70 seconds. It then ran the quarter mile in 9.87 seconds.
Forget about a 10-second car, this car is somehow faster. The angry bull then ran another quarter-mile in less than six seconds, completing the half-mile in 15.34 seconds. The two supercars then battle it out, with Lamborghini’s all-wheel drive system having no advantage over McLaren. Still, the Italians came away with this extra strength.
No doubt some will point out that this is the heavier convertible version of the McLaren. Brooks of Drag Times saw this coming and recorded the data from a 765LT Coupe he had on hand. While it does have a faster half-mile trap speed than the Spider, its top speed is 174.82 mph. Revuelto did that or better in seven of nine runs, with a top score of 177.86.
