Lamborghini Urus SE launched in India with plug-in hybrid powertrain
Lamborghini Urus SE has been launched in India at a price of Rs 4.57 crore (ex-showroom). The Urus SE replaces the Performante and S models and comes with a host of improvements in terms of powertrain, design, and technology.
The Urus SE is powered by a redesigned 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, now with an integrated plug-in hybrid system. The powertrain has a total output of 800 horsepower and 950 Nm of torque. The V8 engine alone can output 620 horsepower and 800 Nm, while the plug-in hybrid system with a 25.9kWh lithium-ion battery further enhances the performance of this SUV. The electric motor is installed in an 8-speed torque converter automatic transmission, similar to the configuration of the Lamborghini Revuelto.
In terms of performance, the Urus SE can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 312 km/h. The SUV has a pure electric range of 60 kilometers and can travel at a maximum speed of 130 km/h in EV mode before the internal combustion engine starts.
Lamborghini has equipped the Urus SE with a variety of driving modes to adapt to various driving conditions. In addition to the familiar Strada, Sport and Corsa modes (for roads and tracks) and Neve, Sabbia and Terra modes (for off-road driving), the Urus SE also introduces four new modes: EV Drive, Hybrid, Recharge and Performance. The Recharge mode is particularly worth mentioning, as it allows the battery to be charged to 80% while maintaining optimal performance.
The Urus SE’s suspension system includes air suspension, an electronic limited-slip rear differential, and 48V anti-roll bars. Together, these features control vehicle dynamics, including pitch, yaw, and roll, ensuring a balanced and controlled ride on all terrains.
While the overall design of the Urus SE remains the same as its predecessor, Lamborghini has introduced several key updates. The front end features a new hood that extends to the edge of the nose, creating a more seamless look. The headlights are slimmer and now feature LED matrix technology, a departure from Lamborghini’s traditional Y-shaped lighting signature. The front bumper and grille have also been redesigned to look more aggressive and prominent.
At the rear, the Urus SE features a new spoiler and tailgate design with a contrasting strip connecting the Y-shaped LED taillights. The license plate has been relocated to the bumper, and the diffuser is now larger and more visually striking. The SUV is equipped with redesigned 21-inch, 22-inch or 23-inch wheels with Pirelli P Zero tires.
Inside, the Urus SE’s cabin has undergone several updates. The dashboard now features more three-dimensional panels, revised air-conditioning vents, and new seat designs. A major upgrade is the larger 12.3-inch central touchscreen, which replaces the previous 10.1-inch unit and runs the latest software and user interface, similar to the one in the Revuelto. Lamborghini continues to offer a wide range of customization options, including more than 100 exterior colors, 47 interior finishes, and the Ad Personam program for a personalized touch.
