Land Rover Guard Octa combines off-road capabilities with high-performance luxury goods

Land Rover has launched the most powerful and off-road version of its iconic SUV in India – the defender Octa. Price is Rs. Rs 259 crore (former showroom), eight deputy (Octa) are on the top of the defender lineup and brings a lot of performance, design and capability. The limited edition One version also offers an additional off-road upgrade, with Rs. 279 million, available only during the first year of the model production.

Design and external highlights

The Defender Octa is only available in a body style with a long wheelbase 110 and has a more aggressive look than the standard version. Wide wheel arches, redesigned front panels, larger grille on the roof and glossy black elements and tailgate contribute to its unique presence. The standard 22-inch wheels wrapped in all-season tires add a road-centric position, while the first edition opts for 20-inch wheels with more solid off-road tires.

Available in four exclusive exterior colors – Carpathian Gray, Charente Gray, Faroe Green and Petra Copper – all available, each with a matte protection option for added durability and style.

Internal and technical

Inside, the Eight retains many familiar defender layouts, but introduces several unique elements. These include an upgraded 11.4-inch infotainment touchscreen, semi-amino-burn Sienna leather upholstery and a center console mini fridge.

The most notable internal update is the addition of new performance seats with integrated headrests, enhanced enhancements and 3D braided fabrics. The seats also combine Land Rover’s body and soul seat audio system, which vibrates synchronously with the vehicle’s audio output to enhance the sensory experience.

Off-road enhancement

Designed as the most capable defender of all time, Octa is Land Rover’s new 6D Dynamics suspension system. This advanced setup uses hydraulically connected shock absorbers to improve the pronunciation of off-road wheels and reduces body roll and pitch during highway driving, eliminating the need for traditional anti-roll bars.

Further upgrades include longer, more robust wishbones, enhanced body bottom protection and ground clearance increase – now up to 319mm. There is also a custom drive mode with off-road start control. As a result, approach, departure and break angles are all improved, and the depth and pronunciation limitations of the SUV are also improved.

Performance and powertrain

Under the hood, the Defender Octa features a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 mildly hybrid engine, shared with the Range Rover, but tweaked to improve output. It provides 635 hp and 750 nm of torque under standard conditions and can climb to 800 nm in off-road launch mode. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a full-time all-wheel drive system.

With this setup, the defender eight can accelerate from 0 km/hr to 100 km/hr in just 3.8 seconds, making it one of the fastest SUVs in its class. The top speed is 250 km/hr, while this version focuses more on off-road functions, with a maximum speed of 160 km/hr.

Competition and positioning

Defender Octa combines luxury, performance and extreme off-road preparation to position itself as a direct competitor to the Mercedes-AMG G63. It is aimed at buyers looking for buyers who are capable but high-quality SUVs that do not compromise refined or solidity.
