Liberty Walk widebody Lamborghini Miura will anger purists
  • The Miura being overhauled for the Tokyo Auto Salon looks rusty and neglected.
  • In addition to revamping the car’s exterior, Liberty Walk appears to have also restored the car’s famous naturally aspirated V12 engine.

Two years ago, Japanese tuner Liberty Walk caused controversy when it wide-body modified a Ferrari F40. Ferrari was reportedly so unhappy with the car that it removed this particular F40 from its official registration. Twelve months later, Liberty Walk launched a wide-body version of another supercar, the Lamborghini Countach. Now, the company is preparing another crazy event for the Tokyo Motor Show in January, this time based on the Lamborghini Miura.

According to the Lamborghini Miura Register, fewer than 800 Miuras will be produced, and details on the specific cars Liberty Walk got its hands on are limited. However, photos of the project shared on social media show that the tuner is doing more than just developing a new body kit for the car.

The Miura’s original bodywork was removed and appears to have been fully restored before modifications were made. Lamborghini enthusiasts may be relieved as this doesn’t look like the original Miura Liberty Walk is working on, instead, it looks rusty and neglected. While the project is bound to spark heated debate among purists, tuners appear to be giving it new life.

Several other companies are also tagged in Instagram posts about the car, suggesting they also played a role in its development. One of them is Armytrix, a company known for making some of the craziest exhaust systems on the planet. We can only begin to imagine what it will bring to Miura.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Liberty Walk has built something like the Miura. In 2018, a tuner used the chassis of a Ford GT40 replica to create a one-off that looked like a wide-body Miura, but wasn’t actually an authentic Lamborghini.
