Lynk & Co teases launch of new L946 flagship SUV in 2025
  • Technical details about the L946 are still unclear, but it is said that it will be a PHEV.
  • The SUV has some familiar Lynk & Co design features, such as sharp LED daytime running lights.
  • Although nothing has been officially announced, it is expected to be available sometime next year.

Lynk & Co has released the first official photos of its new L946 SUV, and while it won’t go on sale until next year, it promises to take the Chinese brand into previously unexplored market segments.

Currently known as the L946, the large SUV is instantly recognizable as a Lynk & Co model thanks to its bold LED daytime running lights that look like eagle talons. The main headlights are located slightly lower on the dashboard. There appears to be no traditional front grille, although there is a small grille area at the bottom of the bumper.

Viewed from the side, the L946 looks a bit like a Range Rover Sport, but looks slightly lower and longer. The door handles are flush with the body, and there’s a lidar sensor on the roof. Black and silver wheels sit above a set of orange brake calipers.

All of the Lynk & Co’s bodywork is finished in camouflage, but we can see some of the LED taillights extending down to the rear quarter panels. Unfortunately, the brand has not released any interior photos of the SUV, nor has it confirmed powertrain details.

CarNewsChina expects the L946 to be sold as a plug-in hybrid, like most other Lynk & Co models. It may borrow a plug-in hybrid from the Lynk & Co 07 EM-P. This stylish fastback sedan is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an electric motor for a total of 375 horsepower.

In October, Lynk & Co launched its first electric car 02 to the European market. It’s a rear-wheel-drive crossover coupe with a 66 kWh battery pack and a 268 hp electric motor, with prices starting below €36,000 in most major markets.
