Once launched, the Mahindra BE.05 will directly compete with the just-launched Tata Curvv EV coupe SUV and we expect the pricing to be similar
If there is one car brand in India that is known for launching new products, it has to be Mahindra. With new global ambitions, Mahindra is launching a new range of pure electric vehicles. One of these cars is the BE.05, and ahead of its launch, the car has been spied in a detailed demonstration video. Let’s take a look.
Mahindra BE.05 top model
Previous spy shots have already revealed that the Mahindra BE.05 will have two different front faces. The base model has a less premium but more attractive front face while the top model has a striking fascia with all the bells and whistles. The base model gets round LED projector headlights with eyebrow-like LED daytime running lights above.
On the other hand, the high-spec models have a more striking fascia with huge C-shaped LED daytime running lights and sleeker LED headlights. A new spy video from Automobile With Bruce shows off the top-of-the-range model in all its glory. In this detailed surround video, we can see the exterior of the car and some of its interior.
First, we have to remove the size factor from the equation. Previous spy photos of the BE.05 showed it alongside the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, looking like a compact car of less than 4 meters. Even the height looked consistent with the Dzire. But in the new spy video, the BE.05 appears to be taller than the Hyundai Ioniq 5 zipping beside it.
Speculations indicate that the Mahindra BE.05 could be a compact SUV that is around 4.3m to 4.4m in length. It has an exaggerated and edgy coupe roofline that ends in an aggressive-looking double spoiler. The overall silhouette is very edgy and wild and will attract a lot of attention.
Notable exterior highlights include flush door handles at the front, C-pillar mounted rear door handles, large aero wheels, low profile tyres, quad disc brakes, charging socket on the left rear quarter panel, huge C-shaped LED daytime running lights and tail light signature, the Mahindra BE.05 also has a strong presence on the road.
Inside look
The recent spy video also revealed a glimpse of the interior. In terms of the interior, the Mahindra BE.05 has two passenger seats at the front that are clearly separated. This creates a sporty feel and gives the driver a cockpit-like feel. Unlike the triple screens on the XUV.e8 and XUV.e9, the BE.05 has only two screens.
We can see both screens in action in the video. The screens appear to be running an EV-specific UI. There is also a new steering wheel with a backlit BE logo. Future iterations of the test car may also be equipped with a HUD. In terms of powertrain, it is expected to have up to 60 kWh battery pack, single or dual motor layout and up to 500 km range. It will be comparable to the just launched Tata Curvv EV.
