Mahindra BE 6, XEV 9e electric SUVs receive 5-star rating

Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e, two new electric cars from Mahindra, both received a 5-star safety rating in the recent Bharat NCAP crash test. Both models received top marks for adult and child occupant protection. The BE 6 achieved 31.97 points (out of 32 points) for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 45 points (out of 49 points) for Child Occupant Protection (COP). The larger XEV 9e received a perfect score of 32 out of 32 for adult safety and a perfect score of 45 out of 49 for child safety. Both models are built on the INGLO platform and adopt a skateboard layout with a lower center of gravity, which improves stability, control and safety.

BE 6 and XEV 9e are equipped with advanced safety features. BE 6 includes ADAS Level 2+, EyeDentity monitoring and Secure360 for 360-degree views. Both cars come equipped with seven airbags, ABS, EBD, TPMS, hill hold assist, child seat brackets and more.

Mahindra BE 6 crash test results

In the frontal crash test for adult occupants, the Mahindra BE 6 provided ‘good’ protection to all areas of the co-driver’s body. For the driver, the right shin was “adequate” protected, while all other body parts, including the head, neck, chest, pelvis, thighs, feet and left shin, were “good” protected.

In the side movable deformation barrier and side pole impact tests, the protection of all parts of the adult dummy was rated “good”.

Mahindra XEV 9e crash test results

The XEV 9e electric SUV coupe offers strong protection for the driver and front passenger in all crash tests. In the front-offset deformable barrier test, all parts of the driver and front passenger’s bodies were “good” protected.

In the side movable deformation guardrail and side bar test, the driver’s head, chest, abdomen, and pelvis were also “well” protected.

Mahindra BE 6, XEV 9e: Powertrain

Mahindra BE 6 is available in two LFP (lithium iron phosphate) battery options: 59kWh and 79kWh. A 59kWh battery powers a 227bhp motor, while a 79kWh option delivers 282bhp, both producing 380Nm of torque. The top-of-the-line model has a certified cruising range of 556 kilometers.

The XEV 9e also comes with two battery options: 59kWh and 79kWh. The 59kWh battery is paired with a 227bhp motor, while the 79kWh battery is paired with a 282bhp motor. The top model with a 79kWh battery has a certified range of 656 kilometers. Both models are available with rear-wheel drive (RWD) to meet different performance needs.
