Mahindra offers new models for its popular ICE SUVs – Thar, Scorpio,

Gadivadi –

Mahindra Thar.e, Scorpio.e and Bolero.e are expected to be launched soon and all three vehicles may adopt the scooter electric vehicle architecture

Mahindra & Mahindra launched the Oja series of tractors in 2023 along with the Scorpio N-based Global Pik Up and Thar.e concept vehicles. During the event, the company outlined its future plans, including a launch timeline for its new electric SUV range. Soon, new models are already on the market, with the XEV 9E and BE 6E electric vehicles launched yesterday. It was also confirmed that Mahindra’s internal combustion engine SUVs will be electrified in the future.

Therefore, both the Bolero MUV and Scorpio SUV are expected to be equipped with electric powertrains in the future. Contrary to expectations, the upcoming Mahindra Scorpio.e and Bolero.e may not be built on a conventional ladder-frame platform. Instead, they are rumored to be based on the dedicated skateboard EV architecture INGLO, which underpins the BE and XEV series.

The Mahindra Thar.e will ride on a customized version of the INGLO P1 architecture, with a longer wheelbase and greater ground clearance. While many global automakers retain body-on-frame chassis designs and electrify them, Mahindra may also explore this option, allowing the Thar.e to retain its rugged features while switching to electric power.

Mahindra chose the INGLO platform primarily because of its packaging advantages. In the Thar.e, the battery is placed under the floor and the wheels are on the edges to optimize interior space. This design strategy is expected to be replicated on the Mahindra Scorpio.e and Bolero.e, further enhancing its cabin space while maintaining a compact and efficient layout.

Similar to the Thar.e, the Scorpio.e and Bolero.e are expected to have best-in-class approach, departure and breakover angles, thereby enhancing their off-road capabilities. Inside, these models are likely to come with advanced connectivity features and modern amenities. Mahindra also revealed that the production version of the Scorpio N-based pickup truck is expected to be launched by the end of 2025 or 2026.

Although the launch date of the five-door Thar.e, Scorpio.e and Bolero.e has not yet been announced, it has been confirmed that both the Thar.e and Scorpio.e will come with a 4WD layout. Mahindra is likely to use recyclable materials in the cabin, with some surfaces designed to be washed directly for convenience. The exterior design is expected to be slightly subdued compared to the concept model.
