Mahindra adds another chapter to the novel of Black-themed Specialty, which includes the Scorpio Carbon Edition. It celebrates the milestone of the 200,000 sales of Scorpio-N in India, but despite its name, it does not have any carbon fiber trim.
Mahindra Scorpio-N was introduced in 2022 and the immediate blow to becoming an Indian buyer. The trapezoidal frame SUV is the successor to the original Scorpio that has been around since 2002 and has been the Scorpio Classic. Self-proclaimed “Big Dad of SUVs” has now gained stereotyped blackening treatments, and they proved to be popular among automakers around the world when their ideas for special editions run out and almost turned into clichés.
The exterior is specially offered with metallic black shades, coupled with smoked chrome trim, which replaces all the shiny crumbs from the standard Scoprio-N. The 18-inch alloy wheels are finished in piano black, while the roof rails have a dark Galvano finish. Finally, the headlights and taillights have a slightly smoking appearance, resulting in a sinister look.

For the interior, Mahindra designers opted for black leather seats with contrasting stitching. The carbon version does not have any real or fake carbon fiber drill bits, but instead opt for smoked chrome inserts. The SUV is only equipped with a three-row, seven-seat configuration and is based on high-spec Z8 and Z8L trim. This means features like 8-inch infotainment, a sunroof and a 12-speaker audio system are included.

The Scorpio-N can be equipped with a 2.0-liter petrol engine, producing 197 hp (149 kW / 200 PS), or 2.2-liter diesel that produces 173 hp (129 kW / 175 PS). Both units can be paired with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. For the gasoline version, the power will be transferred to the rear wheels, while the diesel will also have the option of four-wheel drive.
The carbon version of the Mahindra Scorpio-N is between Rs 19,19,400 ($22,000) and 24,89,099 ($28,500) in India, depending on the powertrain. This marks a small premium of Rs 20,000 ($230) compared to the equivalent decoration of the standard Scorpion N.
The main competitor to the Ladder-frame SUV is the theme-like Tata Han Dark version, which is based on an all-in-one foundation proposed by Land Rover.
