Mahindra Thar festive discounts up to Rs 1.60 lakh

Mahindra Auto, India’s de facto lifestyle SUV maker, now offers the Thar in two versions: Thar and Thar Roxx. With the launch of the Thar Roxx on August 15, Mahindra has given a massive upgrade to the Thar’s image, redefining the lifestyle SUV segment. However, this seems to have had a negative impact on the Thar three-door model.

We say this because Mahindra stands out with the Thar Roxx’s excellent interior and more practical 5-door option. With the sales of the 3-Door Thar slowing down with the arrival of the Thar Roxx, Mahindra is offering offers of up to Rs 1.60 lakh to boost sales ahead of the festive season.

Mahindra Thar Festive Discounts

While the lifestyle SUV segment is collapsing, the 2020 Mahindra Thar has single-handedly elevated this segment and turned it into a profitable business for the brand. With little competition in the mainstream segment, the Thar continues to hold a clear lead over direct rivals like the Maruti Jimny and Force Gurkha.

However, the undisputed champion is now being challenged by its big brother, Thar Roxx. Many Thar buyers choose to buy Thar Roxx due to its larger size, larger rear doors and trunk. As a result, sales dropped and more buyers turned to Thar Roxx.

To boost sales during the festive season, Mahindra is offering benefits of up to Rs 1.60 lakh to Thar buyers. This is a combination of dealer-level offers, depending on inventory, as well as other benefits. Mahindra is offering free Thar accessories kit worth Rs 25,000 to Thar buyers during the festive season.

Benefits vary depending on the different trim levels and powertrain combinations chosen. Notably, the Mahindra Thar Earth Edition is also eligible for discounts during the festive season. The Earth Edition comes standard with four-wheel drive and comes in a special “Desert Fury” color on the outside with similar trim on the inside.

Will Thar get plastic surgery?

Considering Mahindra launched the Thar Roxx with an updated dashboard, we expect the company to offer similar features for the Thar 3-Door as well. Features include LED projector headlights, internally operated fuel filler, rear disc brakes, squared wheel arches, Level 2 ADAS, soft-touch plastics, larger 10.2-inch instrument and infotainment screen, automatic climate control and ventilated seats, among others .

Mahindra Thar comes with three engine options. The range starts with a 1.5-litre diesel engine, with manual gearbox and rear-wheel drive as standard. After that, we have a 2.0L petrol engine with optional rear- and four-wheel drive, as well as manual and automatic transmissions. Finally, we have a 2.2L diesel engine that comes standard with 4WD and is available with manual or automatic transmission options.
