Mahindra Thar Roxx 5-door officially launched, price starts at Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom)
The Mahindra Thar Roxx, the five-door version of the three-door Thar, has been officially launched in India. The new Roxx was much anticipated and several tantalizing spy shots had fueled the excitement. It is finally here and the detailed list of features has been revealed, starting with the base version. The new Mahindra Roxx has been officially launched in India and the test drives will start on September 14, 2024, while bookings will be accepted from October 3, 2024. Deliveries are expected to start from Dussehra.
Thar Roxx offers a total of 6 models, namely MX1, MX3, AX3L, MX5, AX5L and AX7L, we will take you through the features, convenience, off-road performance and powertrain options of each model.
In terms of design, the new Roxx has a wider body, upright A-pillars, a flat windscreen, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and striking exterior body color options, giving it a more powerful and bolder appearance on the road. The aesthetic is further enhanced by a solid black matte roof, a new front grille with polished edges and diamond-cut 19-inch alloy wheels (only on top-spec models), while lower-spec models are equipped with R18 steel wheels. All models are available in seven colors, and all models come standard with a contrasting black roof.
Mahindra Thar Roxx MX1
The base model of Thar Roxx MX1 is priced at Rs 12.99 lakh (G MT RWD trim) and Rs 13.99 lakh (D MT RWD trim). These are the ex-showroom and introductory prices. Despite being a base model, the Roxx MX1 comes with quite a few features. These include LED projector headlamps, LED tail lamps and 18-inch steel wheels. Its interiors boast premium embossed fabric upholstery, touchscreen infotainment system, push-button start and rear AC vents along with USB C port. The rear seats are split 60:40 to increase the boot space. Safety features include 6 airbags as standard and three-point seatbelts for all passengers.
MX1 is positioned on the M-Glyde platform. The chassis is made of high-strength
Steel has higher torsional strength while being lighter. It also features Penta Link suspension with Watts linkage along with frequency-dependent damping and electronic power steering. The Thar Roxx MX1 has excellent off-road capabilities with a brake-locking differential, a wading capacity of 650 mm, and approach and departure angles of 41.3 and 36.1 degrees respectively.
Mahindra Thar Roxx MX3
The Mahindra Thar Roxx MX3 is priced at Rs 14.99-15.99 for the G AT RWD and G MT RWD variants. The car gets a dual tone metallic roof design and comes with LED projector headlamps and LED tail lamps and R18 steel wheels. There are some updates on the infotainment front and the MX3 comes with a 26.03 cm HD infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and wired Apple CarPlay. It also comes with cruise control, auto dimming IRVM and wireless charger and one touch power windows.
Compared to the MX1, it has increased safety equipment including a reversing camera, 4 disc brakes, hill hold assist, hill descent control and traction control. Its off-road capabilities are further enhanced with two driving modes, Zip and Zoom, and selectable terrain modes for snow, sand and mud. The Roxx MX3 also comes with second generation expedition stats including a compass, roll and pitch, and an altimeter.
Mahindra Thar Roxx AX3L – Price and Features
Talking about the Thar Roxx AX3L, it is priced at Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This car also adds several features compared to the two lower-end models. Although the exterior is similar, the interior is equipped with a 26.3-inch HD digital instrument cluster and a 26.3-inch HD infotainment system. In addition to DTS sound effects, this car also comes with Adrenox Connect with built-in Alexa, wireless AACP, and fully automatic temperature control.
Safety is also enhanced with 4 disc brakes, electronic parking brake with auto hold, hill start and descent control, and automatic emergency braking. The Thar Roxx AX3L trim has Level 2 ADAS with 10 functions.
Mahindra Thar Roxx MX5 – 4×4 variant
Starting with the MX5, Mahindra will also offer a 4X4 model. Priced at Rs 16.99 lakh (ex-showroom), this model comes with a single-pane sunroof, ‘C’-shaped LED daytime running lights, LED fog lights and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
It also comes with automatic headlights and wipers, as well as auto-dimming IRVM, while the interior is a cut above the base model with premium leatherette seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, as well as an acoustic windshield. Safety is enhanced by a reversing camera, tire pressure monitoring system, traction control, and all 4 disc brakes.
Mahindra Thar Roxx AX5L
The Mahindra Roxx AX5L is priced at Rs 18.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes with additional features which include a 26.3 HD infotainment system with a 26.3 full digital display with Adrenox connectivity and built-in Alexa, wireless AACP and fully automatic temperature control. It also comes with footwell lighting.
Safety features include Level 2 ADAS with 10 functions, electronic parking brake with auto-hold front parking sensors, and automatic emergency braking. The AX5L is equipped with 4X4 electronic locking differential
Top-spec Mahindra Thar Roxx AX7L
The AX7L MT RWD model is priced at Rs 18.99 lakh like the AX5L and is fully equipped. It comes with the largest Panasonic sunroof in the sub-4.5m segment and rides on R19 diamond-cut alloy wheels. Its exterior design also boasts ‘C’-shaped LED daytime running lights and LED front fog lamps, while the interiors get leatherette-wrapped IP, door trims and steering wheel, 6-way powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats and a cooled glove box. In addition to the infotainment system and digital display on the AX5L, the AX7L also gets a 9-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system with subwoofer, 65W USB C charger along with powered folding ORVMs and automatic temperature control.
Features also include a 360-degree surround view system with blind-view monitor, obstacle view, and ADAS Level 2. It also comes with enhanced off-road amenities like SmartCrawl 4X4 and Intelliturn 4X4, driving and terrain modes, second-generation adventure stats, and brake-locking differential are also among the features found on the Roxx AX7L variant.
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available with two engine options. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 150 hp/330 Nm in the MT version and 160 hp/330 Nm in the higher-spec versions. The 6-speed AT version produces 175 hp/380 Nm. The 2.2-litre diesel engine produces 150 hp/330 Nm in the lower-spec RWD MT and AT versions and 171 hp/370 Nm in the higher-spec 4WD AT version.
