Mahindra Thar Roxx ARAI fuel efficiency figures revealed;

Mahindra has announced the ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figures for its 5-door off-road SUV, the Thar Roxx. The 5-door SUV is available with two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel. Both engines are offered with a choice of 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The turbo petrol engine is rated at 175 hp and 380 Nm of torque and is available in the following models: MX1, MX5, MX3 and AX7 L. The MX1 is only available with a manual gearbox, while the automatic gearbox is only available in the latter two models. The MX5 is the only petrol model that offers both manual and automatic gearbox options. The fuel consumption of the Thar Roxx with the turbo petrol engine is 12.40 km/l (ARAI).

The second engine option is the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine which produces 152bhp/330Nm for the 4×2 model and 173bhp/370Nm for the 4×4 model. The diesel engine is standard across all models (MX1, MX3, AX3 L, MX5, AX5 L and AX7 L) and all models except the AX5 L are offered with a manual gearbox option while the MX3, MX5, AX5 L and AX7 L are offered with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The Thar Roxx has a lower engine power and an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 15.20km/l.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Price

The Thar Roxx 4×2 will be priced between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while the prices of the 4×4 variant are yet to be announced. The latter is expected to cost over Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom).

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Styling

Compared to its 3-door sibling (Rs 11.35 lakh-Rs 17.6 lakh ex-showroom), the Thar Roxx gets a new grille, LED projector headlamp design, redesigned tail lamps, angular C-pillar design and two extra doors. Other features of the Roxx include 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels (only on the top variants), second-row vertical door handles and a rear wiper and washer.

In terms of features, the Roxx is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10.25-inch full instrument cluster. Apart from this, there is a panoramic sunroof, a 9-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a rear bench seat, and a 6-way power driver’s seat. Ventilated front seats, automatic temperature control, a 360-degree camera, 4WD mode, push-button start, and Level 2 ADAS are also part of it.

In terms of market competition, Thar Roxx’s direct rival is the Force Gurkha 5-door and it also faces competition from the Maruti Suzuki Jimny.
