Mahindra Thar Roxx crosses 1.76 lakh unit booking mark

Mahindra officially opened bookings for the Thar Roxx in India today. Notably, the model achieved an impressive milestone, crossing 176,000 bookings in just one hour. This overwhelming response highlights the strong demand for off-road SUVs that appeal to adventure enthusiasts with their rugged design and enhanced features. Potential customers can book the model for a nominal price of Rs 21,000. The ex-showroom price of the new Thar starts at Rs 12.99 lakh and goes up to Rs 22.49 lakh. Customers can book the Thar Roxx through Mahindra dealerships across the country. With competitive pricing and advanced off-road features, the Thar Roxx is expected to attract attention in the growing adventure vehicle market, thereby strengthening the homegrown carmaker’s foothold in the off-road segment.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Powertrain options

The new Thar is available in six variants: MX1, MX3, MX5, AX3L, AX5L and AX7L. Mechanically, the off-roader is available in two engine options – 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine and 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic. The petrol version is only available with rear-wheel drive, while the diesel version offers the option of a 4×4 drivetrain with a low-range transfer case.

The interior is packed with features, including a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, ventilated seats with leatherette upholstery, and a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. seats, panoramic sunroof, fully digital instrument cluster and rear air conditioning vents.

On the safety front, the 5-door model offers electronic stability control (ESC), six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and hill-start and hill-descent control. The ADAS suite includes features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Styling Tips

The updated Thar retains its signature boxy design while incorporating a number of unique features including LED headlights with C-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRL) and body-coloured 6-panel Bar grille. It also gets beefy bumpers, rear door-mounted handles, 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a spare wheel on the tailgate, round fog lights and rectangular LED tail lights. There are seven liveries to choose from: Deep Forest, Nebula Blue, Stealth Black, Tango Red, Everest White, Battleship Gray and Burnt Ocher, all paired with a black roof.

In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4,428mm, 1,870mm and 1,928mm respectively. Its wheelbase is 2,850 mm.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Competition check

The Thar Roxx competes directly with the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door and the Force Gurkha 5-door. It can also replace models like MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
