Mahindra Thar Roxx front profile revealed in full

Mahindra Thar Roxx Front

The front of the Mahindra Thar Roxx has some changes compared to the 3-door version.

Mahindra has fully revealed the front profile of the Thar Roxx ahead of its debut on August 15. The debut of the off-road SUV showcases new elements that show the changes compared to the regular 3-door Thar.

The exterior changes to the Thar Roxx are small but significant. It gets a new set of LED projector headlamps that integrate the LED daytime running lights in a circular pattern and looks quite premium, inspired by some of the premium luxury SUVs including the Mercedes G Wagon.

Next up is the all-new grille design with an all-black theme that features a 6-slat design element but split in two. This makes it look sharper and distinct from the smaller Thar. Note the camera module in the middle of the grille and on the ORVMs, this is for the 360° camera system.

Other details include turn signal indicators on the front fenders, an updated front bumper design (with LED fog lights) and redesigned cladding for a sharper look. The side profile has not yet been revealed but has been leaked in spy photos. It will feature fancy two-tone alloy wheels and of course an additional rear passenger door with the door handles mounted on the C-pillar.

Mahindra will also feature new LED tail lamps and an updated bumper design at the rear. The top variant will get a panoramic sunroof while the mid-level variant will get a single-pane sunroof.

The interior will also see some changes including borrowing the steering wheel from the XUV700 for a more premium look. A slightly revised dashboard gets dual-tone colours and a larger floating touchscreen infotainment system along with a new digital instrument cluster.

The car will be powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine with an output of 150 hp and 350 Nm of torque for the entry-level model and 172 hp and 370 Nm of torque for the premium model. It will also be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with an output of 160 hp and 330 Nm of torque for the base model and 175 hp and 380 Nm of torque for the premium model. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

The Mahindra Thar Roxx is larger in size, has more premium styling, more features, greater practicality, and is equipped with a variety of off-road technologies. It is expected to be priced between Rs 250-300 lakh (ex-showroom).
