Mahindra updates Thar Roxx with more practical Mocha Gray Interiors

Mahindra has launched a brand new interior update for its flagship lifestyle SUV, Thar Roxx. The company has begun offering a new Mocha grey interior theme, replacing the earlier ivory white setting, which is standard in both 4×2 and 4×4 variants. This update is a response to customer feedback and is now heading into dealers and is expected to be delivered soon.

Response to customer feedback

Since its launch on August 15, 2024, the Thar Roxx has been positioned as a premium off-road vehicle, combining a solid design with premium cabin capabilities. While its ivory white interior initially helped to distinguish the Roxx from other lifestyles on the market, many owners find light-colored materials difficult to maintain, especially when off-road and dusty. This concern is especially important for users who often drive Thar in outdoor and adventure environments.

To address this, Mahindra earlier offered a Mocha brown interior theme specifically for the 4×4 variant in October 2024. Now, the company standardizes more practical alternatives across the entire range by offering a Mocha grey finish that effectively breaks the white option.

What’s the difference in the mocha grey interior?

The new Mocha Gray interior features a darker palette that is expected to be more forgiving in the real world, especially in a solid environment. The refreshed cabin retains the premium appeal of the Thar Roxx with a two-tone dash and door trim as well as a revised interior. Contrasting stitching in dark tones enhances aesthetics while providing a more practical and user-friendly experience.

Although official images of the Mocha gray interior have not been released yet, early units found at dealers suggest that the new theme keeps the Thar Roxx plush while improving durability and ease of maintenance.

Powertrain or function has not changed

In addition to the new internal color scheme, Thar Roxx continues mechanically. It still offers two powertrain options:

• 2.0-liter turbo-steel motor engine producing 177 PS and 380 nm of torque
• 2.2 liter turbodiesel, available in 175 ps and 370 nm

Both engines are available in manual and automatic transmission options. However, the 4×4 configuration is still unique to the diesel variant.

In terms of functionality, Thar Roxx retains its comprehensive list of devices, including:

• 10.25-inch touch screen infotainment system and digital instrument panel
• Wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay
• Harman Kardon Advanced Audio System
• Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADA)
• Ventilated front seats, automatic climate control and panoramic sunroof

The actual transformation of strategy

Mahindra’s move to introduce the Mocha Gray interior marks considerations for user feedback, which enhances the appeal of Thar Roxx among off-road enthusiasts and city buyers. The white interior adds a sense of luxury, but the new dark theme style balances with everyday practicality.

Customers can now ask local dealers about the availability of the updated Thar Roxx model for the Mocha gray interior as the company begins phase-out the Ivory White variant from its lineup.
