Mahindra is gearing up to launch the much-awaited five-door version of the Thar Roxx on August 15. The launch is in keeping with Mahindra’s tradition of thrilling Indian car enthusiasts on Independence Day. The Thar Roxx is expected to carry on the legacy of its predecessor while offering new features and greater appeal. It will also be available in new colour options, in addition to the classic Everest White, enhancing its rugged yet stylish design. Combining off-road capability with everyday practicality, the Thar Roxx will be a great addition to Mahindra’s SUV range, cementing the brand’s strong position in the Indian car market and garnering interest from adventure enthusiasts across the country.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Design

The upcoming five-door Thar sports a refreshed look that includes a new six-slot grille, striking LED headlamps with C-shaped daytime running lights, and stylish black door handles. Upgraded dual-tone alloy wheels and modern LED tail lamps complete the modern look. Mahindra Thar Roxx: Features

The Mahindra SUV will come with a panoramic sunroof, automatic air conditioning, a Harman Kardon sound system, a fully digital instrument cluster and a large touchscreen infotainment system similar to the XUV 3XO with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay. It is also expected to include manual day/night IRVM, dual-zone climate control, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), hill hold and descent control, and Level 2 ADAS with features like lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Powertrain

Mahindra has kept the powertrain details of the Thar Roxx under wraps. However, according to speculations, the SUV is expected to offer three engine options: a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, a 2.2-litre diesel and a new 1.5-litre diesel. Transmissions are likely to be a 6-speed manual or automatic. Like its three-door sibling, the Thar Roxx is expected to be available in both rear-wheel and four-wheel drive configurations.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Price and Rivals

The Mahindra Thar Roxx will be priced higher than its three-door counterpart. The Thar is currently priced between Rs 11.35 lakh and Rs 17.6 lakh (ex-showroom), while the five-door Thar Roxx is expected to start at Rs 15 lakh. The new model’s additional features, larger size and increased practicality justify the price hike.

Positioned as a more family-friendly alternative to hardcore off-roaders, the Thar Roxx will compete directly with the Force Gurkha 5-door. It will also be an attractive option for those considering buying compact SUVs such as the Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and MG Astor.
