The Thar Roxx off-road model integrates a variety of off-road equipment and accessories, and seems ready to take on the most dangerous terrain.
The Mahindra Thar is well known for its customization in both the real world and the digital realm. From the first generation model to the latest version, the Thar customization project has seen some truly fascinating designs. Now, we are starting to see some interesting modifications on the new 5-door Thar Roxx.
Rendering of the Thar Roxx off-road model
The actual modification of the Thar Roxx will take time as deliveries have not yet begun. Until then, automotive artist Bimble Designs has produced a new digital rendering that presents the Roxx in rugged off-road form. Just a quick glance at it is enough to conclude that this is the ultimate off-road warrior. While the Thar Roxx already dominates on roads, this off-road version takes the possibilities to a whole new level.
Some of the key upgrades include auxiliary lights, a tougher front bumper, newly designed raised wheel arches, larger wheels and large all-terrain tyres. The addition of a roof rack increases the storage capacity of the SUV and complements its rugged aesthetics. A snorkel has also been added to increase the wading capability of the vehicle. The standard Roxx model has a wading capability of 650 mm. The same is true for the 3-door Thar.
If this rendering were to be created in the real world, it would either use a new suspension or a tweaked version of the existing suspension. It is clear that this Roxx Off-Road has a higher ground clearance. While Mahindra has not yet revealed the ground clearance of the Roxx, it is expected to be more than the 226 mm of the 3-door model. With the increased ground clearance, this Roxx Off-Road can better traverse rocky trails and uneven terrain.
Open rear roof
At the rear, the roof section (all the way to the rear quarter glass) has been cut off. A sturdy roll cage has also been added to protect the passengers. The spare tire on the tailgate has been removed and is probably placed in the cargo hold. With the rear roof removed, this modified Roxx has a more compact and agile profile. The open-air design enhances the overall experience of tackling challenging trails.
For the standard variants, Mahindra does not offer any convertible roof option at the moment. Even the convertible roof option is not available. All variants of the Thar Roxx come with a solid metal roof. However, single-pane and panoramic sunroof options are available depending on the variant.
Thar Roxx – Powertrain Options
If this rendering were to appear in the real world, it would likely continue with the existing engine options. The 2.0-liter petrol engine is available in three different configurations – 152 PS / 330 Nm, 162 PS / 330 Nm, and 177 PS / 380 Nm. The diesel version gets a 2.2-liter engine available in two states of tune: 152 PS / 330 Nm and 175 PS / 370 Nm. Both engines are offered with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission options.
