After months of anticipation, the five-door off-road SUV Mahindra Thar Roxx has finally landed in the Indian market. Positioned above the three-door Thar, the Thar Roxx starts at Rs 12.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base MX1 petrol-MT model, while the three-door model starts at Rs 11.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available in two configurations and 18 trims – 4×2 and 4×4. Prices for the Thar Roxx 4×2 range from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh (ex-showroom), while prices for the 4WD variant are yet to be announced. The Thar Roxx gets a new grille, LED projector headlamp design, redesigned tail lamps, angular C-pillar design and two extra doors compared to its 3-door sibling. Other features of the Roxx include 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels (only on higher trims), vertically placed door handles for the second row, and a rear wiper and washer.

Mahindra Thar Roxx is available in 6 main trim levels: MX1, MX3, AX3 L, MX5, AX5 L and AX7. Bookings and deliveries will start on October 3 and October 12, 2024, respectively. Interested customers can book on the official website or at authorized dealers.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Powertrain
The Mahindra Thar Roxx is available with two engine options – a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel, both in two states of tune. Both engines come mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The petrol-MT model produces 160bhp and 330Nm, while the Roxx petrol-AT model produces 175bhp and 380Nm. The diesel-powered variants, on the other hand, produce 152bhp/330Nm for the 4×2 model and 173bhp/370Nm for the 4×4 model.
As for the powertrain options across the different variants, the standard MX1 comes with a rear-wheel drive (RWD) manual option with both engines. The MX3 is available with a 160bhp petrol-AT, 152bhp diesel-MT and a 173bhp diesel-AT. Moving up, the MX5 is the entry-level model in the Roxx 4×4 range. It comes in 5 options: 160bhp petrol-MT, 160bhp petrol-AT, 150bhp diesel-MT, 150bhp diesel-AT and 173bhp diesel-MT 4×4. The AX3 L and AX5 L feature a 150bhp diesel-MT and 150bhp diesel-AT/173bhp diesel-AT 4×4 respectively. Lastly, the top-spec AX7L can be had with all diesel configurations, but its petrol engine is only mated to an automatic gearbox. Now, taking a proper look at the variant pricing:
