Mahindra has finally announced the prices of this year’s most anticipated Thar five-door, dubbed the Thar Roxx. The petrol manual version is priced at Rs 12.99 lakh, while the diesel manual version is priced at Rs 13.99 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom. However, Mahindra is yet to reveal all the specifications of the SUV; those will be revealed tomorrow.
In recent months, several details about the upcoming 5-door model have surfaced. With the new version, the SUV has become more practical. The front of the Mahindra Thar Roxx is similar to the 3-door model. It features a new vertical six-slat grille, C-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRL) and headlamp clusters. To add to the uniqueness, the SUV has an aggressive dual-tone bumper in silver and black. This bumper also features fog lamps at the corners. The car comes with wide wheel arches and LED indicators. Mahindra Thar Roxx: Platform Details
Firstly, the Scorpio-N and the Thar 5-door use the same platform. This platform is a significantly modified version of the 3-door Thar’s ladder-frame chassis. In addition, the SUV also gets a sturdy metal roof. The body is made of high-strength steel, and parts such as the pillars are stronger than the company’s earlier models.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Features Set
The Mahindra Thar Roxx will come with a sophisticated fully digital instrument cluster. The driver can customize the layout of the instrument cluster as per his/her preference. The list of features includes panoramic sunroof, electronic steering wheel, ventilated seats, automatic air conditioning, Harman Kardon sound system, USB charging port, wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, push-button start, 360-degree camera, rear air conditioning vents, manual day/night IRVM, 60:40 split rear seats, adjustable driver seat, dual-zone climate control and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). It also comes with six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), three-point seatbelts for all passengers and ADAS Level 2 features like lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control for enhanced safety.
Mahindra Thar Roxx: Powertrain options
Talking about the mechanical aspects, the Thar Roxx is offered with two different powertrain options: a 2.0-liter mStallion turbo-petrol engine with a maximum power of 201 hp, and a 2.2-liter diesel engine from the Scorpio-N with a maximum power of 174 hp. For both engines, a six-speed manual or automatic transmission will be available as an option. In addition to four-wheel drive, the SUV is expected to offer rear-wheel drive.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Competition Check
As for the rivals, the SUV will rival the Maruti Suzuki Jimny 5-door and Force Gurkha 5-door and will serve as an alternative to the Skoda Kushaq, Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and MG Astor.
