Mahindra Thar Roxx waiting period extended to 15 months

The waiting period for the Mahindra Thar Roxx in India is up to 10 to 15 months, depending on the model chosen. It is available in six core variants (MX1, MX3, AX3 L, MX5, AX5 L and AX7) with prices starting at Rs 12.99 lakh. The updated Thar distinguishes itself with LED headlights with C-shaped daytime running lights (DRLs) and a body-coloured six-slat grille. It also features beefy bumpers, rear door-mounted handles, 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel, round fog lights and rectangular LED tail lights. Mahindra Thar Roxx: Focus on improving production

Thar Roxx was launched in India in August this year and due to strong demand, it received over 1.76 lakh orders within the first hour of opening for bookings. Mahindra currently has a huge backlog of SUVs and has a current production capacity of 9,500 units per month. The company intends to meet this demand by ramping up production in phases, with the second phase likely to increase Thar production to around 11,000 units per month.

Mahindra Thar Roxx: Other key specs

The Thar 5-door SUV is available with either a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo-petrol engine or a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. Transmission options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic. While the petrol model is only available with rear-wheel drive, the diesel model is also available with a 4×4 drivetrain and low-range transfer case for increased off-road capability.

In terms of features, the Thar Roxx gets a fully digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats with leatherette upholstery, a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a nine-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, a panoramic sunroof, rear AC vents, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, and a six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. It comes with six airbags, hill descent and hill descent control, ADAS, electronic stability control (ESC) and a 360-degree camera for safety.

The SUV is priced from Rs 12.99 lakh to Rs 20.49 lakh for the RWD variant and Rs 18.79 lakh to Rs 22.49 lakh for the 4WD variant. These are ex-showroom figures.
