Mahindra is gearing up to launch its all-electric SUVs – XEV 9e and BE 6e – at an event to be held in Chennai on November 26. As seen in the latest teaser video, the electric SUV rides on Mahindra’s new INGLO architecture and features aggressive bumpers and a futuristic front-end design, similar to the concept on which it is based. The XEV 9e’s vertically stacked headlights are mounted below an attached LED light bar, while the BE 6e has horizontally oriented headlights outlined by C-shaped daytime running lights. Both EVs feature a closed grille, aerospace alloy wheels with flared wheel arches and bold character lines. As the name suggests, the BE 6e comes with an illuminated BE logo, while the XEV 9e comes with an illuminated Infinity logo. Wheels are expected to be 18 inches. The BE 6e’s rear end isn’t visible, but we speculate the car will feature connected LED taillights, just like the XEV 9e.
As per the previous teaser, the Mahindra XEV 9e will come with a triple-screen setup, touch-sensitive control panel and a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel with logo. The car is expected to feature an electric parking brake, electric front seats and driving modes. There may also be six airbags (standard), adaptive cruise control, a tire pressure monitoring system and lane-keep assist.

As for the BE 6e, Mahindra will offer a cockpit-like, driver-centric cabin with dual integrated displays, a large center console and a two-spoke steering wheel bearing the BE logo. The car also features a panoramic glass roof, electrically adjustable front seats, pillar-mounted head restraints and driving modes.
Mahindra XEV 9e, BE 6e: Powertrain
Mahindra has not yet revealed details of the battery and power system; however, it is known that Mahindra’s self-produced INGLO skateboard platform supports 60kWh and 80kWh battery packs, with a fast charging capacity of up to 175kW and a comprehensive cruising range of up to 500 kilometers. Additionally, the architecture is available in rear-wheel drive (RWD) and all-wheel drive (AWD) configurations.

We expect the Mahindra XEV 9e coupe SUV to be offered in a single rear-wheel drive setup, while the BE 6e will be available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The former will contrast with the upcoming Tata Harrier EV that Mahindra plans to launch this fiscal year. The latter is positioned higher than the XUV400 EV and will compete with the Tata Curvv EV, MG Windsor EV and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX.
